Anybody got any experience in Santa Fe and Taos for mtn. biking? Planning a trip for mid March and was trying to track down as much beta for camping/trail riding as possible...

Any help would be appreciated,

I used to go to Santa Fe late in the summer. Coming from Dallas, I never could get used to riding on the steep hills or the thin air. Take a road bike with you, it's a workout. It wasn't my favorite place to ride, but the city is great & Bandalier Ntl park is on the way to Los Alamos. Definatly spend a day or 2 out that way. Alot better hiking & sightseeing than biking. If you're taking your old lady, go to Jemez Springs or up the mountain for a spa day.

All due respect; there will be no road bike on this trip. We ride the mountains up to get down. :naughty:

Just looking for a spot to camp at either location not in a campground that can facilitate a small pop up camper off grid. Maybe a favorite forest service road with a clearing. I don't mind looking for one once ẃ get there, just if someone was willing to share their secret spot... or something like that.

Got a strange one for you guys. Time for new grips (I've got the Oury lock on), and when I remove the end cap this is what I find:

The entire inner wall of the bar (Niner aluminum) is covered with the stuff:

WTF? My bike shop built this rig up for me about two years ago, everything brand new.

February in Colorado and it was about 70 yesterday, we had to get some dirt in since snow is on the way for the next couple days.

This grouse was injured and territorial, it attacked Larry's bag and my front tire.

Wifey's new bike, we got ride of the 29x2.0 tires and but a WTB 29x2.3 Viginate TCS fast rolling/light on the front and a WTB 29x2.25 Trail Boss TCS fast rolling/light on the rear setup tubeless with Orange seal. (Same tires I got my for bike build but I went with the fast rolling/tough version of the Trail Boss for the back.)

It's weird to ride dirt in shorts and t-shirts while the truck has snow tires on it and my skis inside.

Hey guys, riding my bike and I hit a rock with my left pedal and busted it up. Now I'm in the market for some pedals. The ones I had were just cheap plastic platform man o war pedals. I want some that have a good stick to them. I was looking at the DMR V8 just cause a coworker has them and they're pretty nice. I'm not concerned about weight or anything but would like them to have replaceable studs. Thanks in advance for any help/advice.

I have a set of Straightline Performance pedals id be willing to get rid of. They are in great condition. I used them for a couple rides on a fuel before switching to clipless. They have replacable studs but be advised i recieved a 9" gash ankle up from a slip off the pedal. If you are interested PM me.

Best advise......spend quality time going to different shops and test riding many bikes before purchasing to get the best fit. Time well spent.

Plus, for me anyway, the fun is in the chase. The purchase is anticlimatic.

I'm using Shimano PD-MX80 "Saints" --Luv 'em! I wear some old Shimano MTB shoes with the cleats removed, that way I get the rigidity of a cycling shoe and the freedom of platform pedal. Great combo for me.

You may also want to consider Power Grip pedals. I've used them on my road bike and think they're a great alternative to clipless -which I don't like. There's a guy in the local cycling club that uses Power Grips for road and MTB and swears by them -- and this guy bikes -everywhere- over any terrain in all types of weather.

Im 75% a road biker i do triathlons and minnesota doesnt offer the best mountain bike runs. There are a few local places but get boaring after a while, generally i do downhill riding when i head out west each summer and make me want to move out there more and more.

Not a great pic of the bike but you get the point. Although Savannah is completely flat you can actually have a blast on coastal single track around here.
