I don't have long travel, and no where to prerun up here, but I do hit the trails harder than I should! Superbumps on the front help me a ton, need them on the rear.
Now, if you want to seriously prerun you need to concentrate on the rear. It needs the most help. You can throw some good coilovers on the front and run the hell out of it, but the rear isn't as easy. You will need some offset arms like metal tech sells, long cushy coils and most importantly excellent shocks. Personally I'd check onto coilovers. Would require fab work, and a cantilever would be great if you can do it.
There are several kits for long travel on the front with what seems to be better reviews on the camburg kit. There is another kit made for the Tacoma that is much better and bigger, but it's a +4.5 on each side making you 9" wider. $$$
