Any rock sliders that offer storage?

Was daydreaming yesterday on future projects and wondered if any of you have seen 4th Gen 4Runner options on rock sliders/nerf bars that offer the ability to store tools or anything inside.

My 4R is my daily driver and I keep a lot of standard tools with me that don't always fit in the nooks and crannies, and an exterior storage box in the shape of sliders may offer what I'm looking for.

The only thing I've heard of is people using sliders as air tanks for their compressors.

Interesting. I know some have used their sliders to store compressed air. I couldn't see much room being available between the outside tubes even on a kickout design, but maybe down closer to the frame rails there would be some room, difficult to access though.

I've been kicking around the idea of welding a 5" deep tray inserted in the floor of my cargo area. There is tons of room underneath there on the right side with my 1.5" body lift and spare tire removed. It wouldn't be easily accessible with a drawer system on top of it but with an overhanging "sleeping platform" it would be doable. Throw a floor jack and some tools down there, and put the rest in cargo drawers on the left side.

I've got the welding equipment and currently sourcing a water jet mill.

That reminds me that it is illegal to have, install, etc secret compartments on vehicles in Ohio, but solely for the purpose of transporting illicit substances, which certainly won't be a problem for me.

Here is what I have sketched up. Not real hidden but I know what you are saying. There is fuel stuff under there so the compartment may not be as big side-to-side as I have drawn but hopefully big enough to put a floor jack in and pile other stuff on top. Hopefully I haven't derailed the thread too much...

Nah, I think sliders may provide the armor/ease-of-installation/available space that I'm looking for, but I am terribly curious on other ideas and concepts.

I'm looking at installing an aux fuel tank I have lying around where the spare tire is, so I've looked in the area you've mentioned. The evap system is there, but those tend to be a bit flexible, so I imagine you could relocate it as you see fit. It's just kind of right in the middle taking up more real estate than necessary
