My wife and I plan on doing some overnight trips in the 4runner, we are planning on folding the back seats down, putting a mattress in the cargo area and sleeping there however we would like to crack open the rear tailgate window for ventilation. Is there a screen or net available to keep bugs out?

As mentioned the mosquito netting on the back window may be cheap and easy enough for occasional use. Cut, fit and magnet or similar.
We did build an option out of really heavy duty mil-spec mesh for the side windows specifically for the rear side window though. (our back window cargo net wouldn't fit tight to side for bug use as it was designed for pups mainly.

I bought these on amazon for the rear windows and worked great when the pup and I sleep in the back. If you remember to park with the wind blowing into the side of the 4r, it's great. I didn't find any options for the rear windows unless you cut a mesh screen to match the rear profile and use magnetic strips to hold it in place.

I've been using an Amazon generic door window mesh thing for this, but those look much better. Ill be snagging a pair.

These look great!! I have been putting off modifying my old ones for my 5th gen and this will save me some work! Just need to tackle the sunroof and rear window now...

DIY tailgate mosquito net project
I made a custom screen for the back hatch by sewing twill tape around the edges of the netting (cut to fit) and then sewing small pockets for round magnets. It looks sharp, and you can close the door over it if you just want the window open.

Rain gutter guards, usually $2.50 per 3-4' sections, trim to fit.
The skeeters in TX must really be Texas sized if that keeps them out.

At least my local home depot rain gutter guards, there is also a piece of layer of mesh so those holes are not in fact just... big empty holes

I tried this temporarily about a year ago, very quickly trimmed to size and worked okay - my biggest issue was actually simply installing them! Between placing them in the window and using the power windows to raise window proper amount without "crushing" the guard and pushing it out... was kinda not nearly as simple as I expected? Obviously a non-perfect fitting results in gaps for anything to get through. Any tips you've developed?
