Anybody changed the runner seat?

Hi guys,

As we know most of 3rd gen has uncomfortable seat.
Anybody changed the 3rd seat to another model? Lamd cruiser? Highlander?
Is it dangerous to switch seat?

Also please post pictures if you switch seat or new seat cover?

the problem with switching is the mounts are almost always in different spots, and even if you can mount it, the seat is usually really high or too far foreward.

What about power seat?

If as you said the mount can bring the seat backward is the power seat will help? What will be the best model that will fit our 3rd? Rav4, land cruiser, night lander or lx470?

the issue is that the 4runner seat are very thin, most seats are a few inches thicker so if you put those other seats in you hit your head on the roof all the time. basically what im saying is unless you have some serious fabrication skills its going to be near impossible to get a decent set of seats in the 4runner and have them fit where you want them.

I've wanted a more comfy seat forever too, are there ANY decent alternative seats that have / could work?

Maybe a Camry or something?

This is 12+ year old worn foam you are dealing with. Get new foam for the seats.

There's a 2000 camry sitting in my parents garage. I'll see if I can't get some measurements after work today

...I think the tan leather might clash with my faded blue interior though

lol, thanks! I've got a tan interior! i wonder if an upholstery place could add foam and make it nicer... my driver side seat is new-ish, a replacement from a yard when my back rest frame broke..... i think the previous owner was a DAMN BIG!

How about access to the lumbar support? If I could stuff a little more padding in that area it would do wonders for my lower back. I have tried the external lumbar pads that strap to seat but don't really like those.

My seat is still in good shape but it is a liitle hard on long trips. I bought a nice seat pad and put a nice tight seat cover over the seat and cover to hold it in place. It works well--- short of removing the cushion and have it replaced$$.

I put Mazda 323 seats in the 96 because they had the right distance between the frame rails and there wasn't any stains or blood on them.

It was definitely not a simple bolt-in job and my seat is taller on purpose, I have a short body so I actually like that. My husband at 6' fits okay too, but I couldn't go any taller for him.
When the seats in the 99 fizzle we might go the new foam route for them, they are nicer and currently way more comfortable than what I had originally in the 96.
