Anybody have a Valentine Radar detector?!

well i wasnt paying attention on the road I work on and I knew about this little trap but I was running late and I got caught, 54 in a 25! its 190$ and 5 points here in PA. It is my first ticket and my family lawyer is gonna take car of it for me for free. he said he can get the points knocked off most likely (hopefully) but anyways now im in the market for a radar detector, All my friends with any kind of fast car have used Valentines, and i know its not cheap but im sure it will pay off and I will keep it forever hopefully. just was wondering if anybody had any negative opinions on this? thanks guys!

That sucks man. If I were to get a radar detector, that's the one I would go with.
As for the ticket, and it's your first, file for a plea in advance. I got my first ticket ever of all the 15 or so years I have been driving, stupid small town cops got me going 5 over. Basically you gotta go 6 months without any more tickets and it will be like it never happened. Good luck man!
 
Between the wife and I, we've owned 3 Beltronics V955's. It's saved my butt many times and is definitely a good deal for $170 or so.
 
25... That means it was residential. If you drive that fast on my street, I'll throw shit at you.
 
By far the best radar detector I've owned! I owned a number of different models as well and Im still in love with the V1. It's paid for it self countless times. Plus they hold their value like crazy!
 
I've used a V1 in sports cars, and on sportbikes. It's the only detector that will let you know where and how many threats there are.

I've tried various escorts, bel's etc, but none compare, IMO.

Of course it's most important to use your head, and not speed in areas where it really is dangerous to others to do so, such as a residential area.
 
i have one hard wired into my 4runner. it has saved my butt several times,and more than paid for itself. but the one thing you need to know, is that laser is the speed of light, if the laser gun gets you there is no going back or chance to slow down, they have you. so dont think its your excuse to speed because your covered. -thats a false safety! also there have been times when i have had the music up and not heard the detector go of, and get nabbed (thankfully i just got a warning). again its a false sense of security and not a replacement for paying attention. cops will also pace you and match your speed with their car and they can nab you that way as well, dont forget aircraft either. all of these will not be detected by any radar detector. and im with kurtis, if i caught someone doing that on my street id call the cops after i had a little come to Jesus meeting with you. business or not thats crazy man...

but yes i love my V1 and would not have anything else.
 
v1 is the way to go. i currently have a beltronic rx65 pro, great little machine for right around $200,
the thing now cops are using Ka signal radar guns that pick up a wide range the further you are away.
becoming more common is laser gun, as soon as they pull that trigger your basically screwed. you can buy jamers that confuse their guns and give them no reading but thats another few hundred bucks for a system and eyes that go on the front of your bumper.
lasers only emit a small beam signal so its possible they can get your speed and your scanner will not even pick up the signal of the laser.

i with i had the money for a V1. after my $200 in radar detector and $250 in fine plus lawyer fees. thats just about a V1 right there. of i forgot my other $80 ticket in Wyoming. FML
 
V1 is the best in the game, the only unit that will let you know WHERE the radar is, and also if there are multiple sources (cop set up in front of you and coming up behind you scenario). If you live anywhere radar detectors are illegal, the BEL driver STI is the only unit on the market that is undetectable, so that would be the unit to go with in that situation.
 
You can also use the Wayz app on your phone to see where all the radar and other hazards are located as long as you are driving in an area that has reception.
 
If you're doubling the speed limit the radar detector won't catch it in time to slow down;I suggest slowing down and pay attention and along with a radar detector should keep you ticket free and pick your spots to speed and not to speed.
 
54 in a 25mph area, and in a 4runner. Damn your dumb.

I had several generation of the Escort Passports. They are good very sensitive and lots of features - GPS...etc. The last one I bought was a 8500.

I now use a Valentine1 and I love it!!! It is sensitive, shows the direction the radar signal is coming from and scales much better with the distance to the radar source.
My Passports would go off full scale on the strength meter when I was miles away from the Cops. The Valentine1 scales better so when I see 3 or more dots lit up I will start to slow down.

I still keep my Passport for a backup and I may be sending the Valentine1 in for an upgrade.
 
Better check to make sure a radar isn't illegal. Iv been pulled over just for having one in my window. Cop didn't write me a ticket but gave him cause to pull me over.
 
I have a V1 in my BMW, it is the best as far as I'm concerned. My friend runs one in his Ferrari. The only time he got a ticket is when he didn't have the detector in the car.
