Anybody know if this will fit a 2005 Limited V8 with XREAS?

Ran across this website with the TRD exhaust. Seems like a very good price. Can't tell if the dual pipes are side exit or rear exit, however, and I'm not sure if it would fit my 2005 Limited V8 with XREAS without removing the spare tire? Any ideas?

The price definitely seems too good to be true. Unfortunately, I thought the TRD exhaust only fit the XREAS-equipped 05/06 4Runners with the spare taken off.

With the spare intact, I think your best options are Magnaflow or Borla (haven't heard any reviews about Gibson). Borla recently released a dual catback exhaust for XREAS-equipped 05/06 4Runners. It's very similar to the TRD system, but works around the spare tire so you can keep it intact. This kit is available from Borla as part#140146 and retails for just over $1000. It is also available through Southeast region Toyota dealers as a port or dealer installed option... part # 00016-89008, which retails for $779.

I just ordered a set from Courtesy Toyota in Tampa, Florida. Spoke to Tad Bowling in the parts department and he got me the set for wholesale... $679, plus shipping to California (where I can't find the same system except through Borla). Even $679 seems expensive for exhaust, but it's on par with what the TRD system usually costs and you're still getting a nice stainless system with engraved tips, like the TRD. Check out X6RUNNER's system on his 06 Sport Edition (in the "test-loading pics" posting). He seems pretty happy with it.

If anyone else is interested in this Borla system, PM me and I can get you Tad's contact info at Courtesy Toyota. Nice guy and very professional to deal with. I'll post pics and my impression when it gets here and I bolt it up.

Wow, this sounds very tempting. Anybody who has the XREAS suspension on their 4Runner install the TRD exhaust yet? I called this place up and they couldn't give me a definite answer. I am going to call Toyota directly and see if they can give me an answer.

I think Doug aka 24runner has it on his o5 SE but he had to remove the spare in order for the pipe to fit?

I decided to try and contact TRD directly but I only was able to get an answering machine where I left my number. I then looked at the dealers around the country who sell TRD parts and contacted Carson Toyota. I was able to speak to a knowledgable person there. He told me that TRD specifically states that their dual exhaust is not compatible on 4Runner's with XREAS. He knew people who did it by welding a new mounting bracket but that is something no Toyota dealer would take on. He sent me on the Carson Toyota parts website, where there was a link that tells you how to mount this new hardware. That link only directed me to the XREAS thread on this board. :confused:

I also called the dealer who is selling the exhaust for $250 and they are all sold out of it. I wonder why???
 
The exhaust is supposedly on the way

Got an e-mail today about the $250 TRD exhaust system. It's supposedly on the way and I'll let you all know if it shows up. I have a feeling that it won't fit my 2005 V8 Limited with XREAS--seems to be a very murky topic without clear answers. We'll see.....
 
I just recieived mine and installed it today. It was actaully a real deal.

I'l post pics later and give you guys my summary.

I received mine, too

Got mine a few days ago, but haven't opened the gigantic box yet. Got it for $250 and apparently didn't have to pay for shipping (it's a huge, heavy box). It came from NH to CO, so was a really good deal overall.

So what model did you install yours on? Did you do the installation? How difficult was it? I've got the 05 Limited with XREAS and I'm still not sure if it'll fit with the spare tire in place. Looking forward to your pictures.
 
installation was really easy.the instructions are very detailed. It took me like 1 1/2hrs. there is like b rubber hangers and 4 bolts. I recomend soaking the rear bolts in p&b lube for aan hour b4 starting. and if you don't have wd40 don't even try it.

I paid $37 for shipping... your lucky.

as far as the spare, the only difference is that your gonna have to crank your spare down. Try it with the sapre on ne-ways. Its only 2 bolts and 1 hanger for the pipe that goes across. The drivers side pipe is the only thing in the way.

Thanks for the info. Do you have any pictures of the final product? Also, you were able to keep the spare under the truck in the end?

Must of been a super sale cause they quoted me for $731.50 and $749.50 for the borla exhaust at Courtsey Toyota. You guys got lucky. Wow!!!!:bash:
 
I'll see if it fits the 2005 Limited with XREAS. The instructions say "2003-2004", nothing about 2005 (with XREAS). The website where I ordered it says "fits 2003-2005". The pictures in the installation instructions make it look like it'll go around the spare no problem. It's a nice looking system with dual oval outlets engraved with "TRD" on the tops. Certainly seems to be lots of confusion on this topic.
 
As far as I understand it the TRD exhaust system is a copy of the Borla exhaust system. With that being said, the Borla exhaust system fits perfectly on 2003-2004 XREAS equipped 4Runners with the wspare tire. In 2005, Toyota changed the way XREAS is mounted causing the Borla system to no longer fit with the spare tire. Anyways, you got yourself a killer deal on it.
