Anybody know what this harness is used for?

I want to install one of these auto dimming mirrors w/ compass and home link in my 2008 SR5. From reading other members install posts, I am going to tap into the sunroof harness for power.
I was poking around in the overhead console area and I saw this pre wired harness not connected to anything, the one with the blue end. Not sure what its used for. Is it for the home link function in the factory limited T4R overhead console? And if so, I see on EBay for sale a connector (toyota # 8718-AC010) for the newer Camry's.
Do you think you can connect this part from the mirror to the unused harness in the T4R.

Well, you don't mention any details about your 4runner like trimline, options, etc, but it looks like the plug for the microphone for the navigation system which is mounted in the overhead console. Some runners are pre-wired for this and whether or not you have this option, you may have this plug.

Just for your info, Homelink doesn't have any additional wiring added to the overhead console for the units which have it. The homelink unit is a small unit that mounts in the console. Power is simply tapped "internally", so to speak, from the console's lighting power. So if you decide to change out the overhead console instead, it's a simple plug-n-play with one that has it.

If you don't have an auto dimming mirror, go for it. If you have one already, just swap out the overhead consoles.

Thanks A/V1 for the quick response, it is an 08' SR5. Poked at the harness with test meter and got nothing so that answers that. Picked up a used mirror on the forum last week from a T4R member. I think I am going to go the route of 4RunnERD and his excellent post http://www.toyota-4runner.org/4th-gen-t4rs/85593-auto-dimming-mirror-install-w-pictures.html, and install an auto dim mirror w/compass and home link with the amber display. Already have the temp readout in the center console and it will make an easier install without having to pull off the A pillars with the airbags.
