Anyone cut out a muffler?

There is a reason im asking here first. Its just an idea im tossing around before i buy a full catback. Thanks for your response though even though its worthless

My guess is that you will get a ticket almost immediately. At the very least, I would check with a local muffler shop to see what it would cost to cut out the muffler and replace it with glass pack(s). It will still be plenty loud. I have not heard this on a 5th gen, but have heard the difference on a 3rd gen (several years ago).
That is the plan. I just have a million thoughts a second lol.

Ok honestly... it will be unbearably/insanely loud. Your neighbours will hate you, everyone on the road will hate you, cops will ticket you and you'll hate yourself after 5 minutes of driving it. 
That said, I've contemplated the idea of putting in a Y pipe before the muffler and having it switchable between the muffler and straight piping it for when I want to be an idiot out in the desert!
On my friends old bug we would remove the baffles from the stinger out in the desert, was great fun for short periods of time.

Reminds me of another friend that had a VW and on the way to my house one of the spark plugs blew out of the head. He let the plug wire dangle next to the hole so gas wouldn't build up as the engine ran and drove it that way to my place. It sounded like a 45 being fired off on every firing of the open cyl head. So like a 45 discharge 200 times a minute at idle... It was unbelievable. Then at like 2am he starts it up and drives home that way! Everyone within a 1 mile radius of everywhere he drove must have been jolted out of bed

I have the quietest Magnaflow and it is absolutely the loudest I would want. Without a muffler would be really not fun tbh. If it was a cool sounding V8 it would be different possibly (I still doubt it), but with the v6 I don't think it would sound good at all. Waiting is a good plan!
Ill for sure look into that. Where did you pick up the muffler from?

How easy is it to remove the muffler anyway? If it's just a clamp and a hangar or two - just take it off as an experiment. I'm also wondering if the exhaust system would be damaged without the muffler there. Are there any sensors (like the aft oxygen sensor) that could be damaged or indicate incorrectly with the loss of back pressure with the muffler missing.

I got it at the custom exhaust shop and he said he always keeps lots of the MagnaFlow and Flowmaster mufflers in stock as they are commonly used. My part number was 12586.
Its not just a clamp. Its welded onto the pipe.
There is no sensors there or anything. so there is nothing to worry about but sound
