you guys aren't afraid the 3m tape will fall off being in rain, snow, heat, dirt, etc?

Need to be sure to get the 3m outdoor double adhesive. That one says can hold up to 5 lbs.

I did mine over a year ago with 3m double sided tape and haven't had a letter move a bit.

OMG, heat gun??? That's like killing an ant with a hammer..Lol Seriously though, dental floss is all you need, period. I've been doing it like that for 20+ yrs.. The glue is like wax. Either rubs off with thumb or bug and tar remover..very easy! There is absolutely nothing behind the badging except smooth virgin paint. Hope this helps someone out. Good luck!

I understand how to do it. The issue is, I don't want to remove the letters if there are indents behind them. But I can't find out if that is true on the 2014. If there are indents, I'd rather leave the letters as is factory aligned and just paint them on the car.

If it is the same as the '10-'13, it looks like there will be 4 small dimples behind the lettering. Check this thread out.

Yeah, I'm assuming it will be the same. In that case, I would like to just leave the letters on the car and paint them. So I guess plastidip would be the best option. Is it hard to peel it off around the letters, especially in the centers? Thanks again.

I have zero experience with plasti-dip, but in the above mentioned thread, one member talks about spraying the emblem, outlining it with a toothpick, then peeling the excess off. Sounds easy enough.

I'm honored that my post warranted a quote as your first post. The heat gun image was more of a metaphor. A picture of a box of dental floss might have been ambiguous.

I understand how to do it. The issue is, I don't want to remove the letters if there are indents behind them. But I can't find out if that is true on the 2014. If there are indents, I'd rather leave the letters as is factory aligned and just paint them on the car.

Your other option is to go to some local dealers and see if they have a replacement trim piece in stock and ask to see it. I haven't looked that closely to a 14, but you could find out if the replacement part is the same part number as the 10-13s.

I went with screw caps...a whole $2 when I bought them a month ago. I took the front plate holder off, then just put the screws back in (since the dealer used fricking self-tapping screws through the plastic...). Now I have two small black dots on the front, which is acceptable to me.

If you want to go without leaving screws in and try for a more flush/clean solution, check out nylon plugs from Home Depot or a local hardware store. You should be able to get white or black for pennies in whatever size you need. Better than $20+ for other solutions, IMHO.

LMAO! I totally understand... It was more of an automatic response seeing how more times than not I'm usually being called by friends/family "after" coming up with the most extreme ways to remove things off of their vehicles. It's the aftermath I usually have to help with, of course right after a thump on their heads. Most recent example, my niece removing a sticker from her truck lid with, ready for this, break clean! Why, because she heard me tell my brother it has so many uses (in a professionals hand). Suffice it to say, it's not the only thing that came off, as she quickly learned! Now there's a nice 5x5in patch of bare metal in her 2011 Mazda. Her father was less than thrilled...Lol Next week the lid gets repainted...
