anyone else experience bad rattling inside the 4runner?

within the last month i have noticed that everytime i go over a bump/pothole the interior parts squeaks and rattles really bad... mostly in the back area but i can pinpoint the spot because I'm driving...anyone else experience this? does something need to retighten?

My 96 does this as well. I'm assuming it's just the interior trim getting loose with age. If I tried to fix all the noises and rattles in this truck, I'd have to quit my job and do it full time

Two common culprits to check:

Jack under the rear passenger seat.

The hooks that the rear seats latch onto when in the upright position - mine would make noise, and I read a post where someone wrapped electrical tape around the contact points which worked for me.

I know how you feel. I have a pretty nasty rattle somewhere in the dash that has been driving me nuts. Anyone know what that could be?

I feel the pain too...mostly because my 02 sport edition is otherwise very tight.
I've concluded that my rattle is coming from the rear passenger fender flare which is loose at the top. As far as I can tell, there was never any fastener there so I'm kind of stumped.

I have a rattle coming from the passenger dash that drives me crazy.

But I have fixed the 2 rattles in the back which were caused by the upper ear seatbelt brackets. some sticky neoprene solved that.

I have one too...I tried the "cheap sunglasses and old flashlight removal fix" but that didn't work. I found that my front door panels no longer had their clips. So the hard plastic door section...where when you close your door, is hidden behind the "side" of your dash...I put in those clips (thanks @INfamousRNR) and it took care of it to an extent. The door panel had been hitting the side of the dash.

Hell yeah I do! But it's not bad for the miles. Easiest way I've found to address rattles is to start stuffing whatever I can find around rattle area, or tape, to locate it. Then disassemble and fix whatever is rattling.
