is that the only part of the truck that's rusted? I would suggest getting a new tailgate. perhaps you can look for one at a local junkyard.

junkyards all want $800 + 14% tax for banged up tailgates. no thanks lol might as well buy a new one for that price

My 95 has the same problem - its real common in the northern regions. I agree with fourwd1 about pursuing the body work instead of replacing the whole gate. Is there anyone out there selling panels for the gate?

Dude, I am not sure who you called, but Team Auto sells them for $500 bux when they are in reasonable shape.

BTW if you pay for shipping you can find them for much less, and don't let someone say there is duty. There is no duty on used car parts since 1987, as a part of NAFTA. However some shipping companies will charge you a "brokerage fee" which translates to they strong arming you for money, because they can. When getting something shipped, make sure that whoever you are using to bring that part in has a reasonable brokerage fee, or go to the airport and fill out your own broker papers, cost 15 bucks I think, 3 pages of the usual "insert your info here" and voila, you now just do the customs declaration on your part and you take it home.

BTW If you want one shipped I can hook you up with some numbers of wreckers/recyclers that have them in stock, may have to call to get a price and condition.

Good luck.

Marc

I checked out the toyota fiberglass site and they were good to deal with - shipping quote to me in Pittsburgh for the gate panel was $41 or so. Mine isn't to the point I need the entire panel so I'm just glassing the areas myself.
