Anyone else with 5.29 Gears?

Ok,

So now that I took the plunge, I know alot of you have 4.88 gears...

who has 5.29?

Im liking them. Im still only on 33's and I hit about 3400RPM at 70mph now, but I think that I like the gearing as it is. I may not even go to 35's.

Talk about high RPMs! There's a reason I didn't go to 5.29s and that's bc, unfortunately, I do a lot of highway driving.

Howzit! I have a quick question..I only put gearing in in the rear and will put it in the front..If i go wheelin without the front will it be safe or will be albe to handle?:

Yes you will be fine as long as you DO NOT engage 4WD. I drove around with 4.88's in the rear and 4.10's in the front for a week (until I could swap out the front) without any issues. Just don't put it in 4WD or you will have one differential trying to travel faster than the other and you could end up blowing one of them out.

Holy high RPM Duhockey! I'm running 4.88's with 33X12.5's but I'm hoping to run 35X12.5's when I need new tires. I am happy with the 4.88's and I think they will be even better with 35's.

What gear ratio you running? I do an estimated 3,500 mile trip about every 3-4 months going down home. I'm stock with 33's right now and besides constantly shifting down going up hills, when I'm cruisin on flat ground I'm cruisin at 1,800 rpm's at 70. I'm looking for something I can just cruise with and not have to worry about my tranny shifting constantly.

I have 5.29's with 35" tires on my '02 sport. Works great!

I'm running 4.88's on mine, and when I had 33's they were perfect. Now that I'm running 35's and also carrying more gear, I am planning on changing to 5.29's.

I have 5.29's. I run 35's. With my auto trans I couldn't imagine running anything else. I also live on a island in the middle of the Pacific and dont ever drive faster than 50 mph. But going up hills and what not hands down 5.29's. I kind of have a basis opinion to cause when I went to 35's I geared at the same time

I'm not a 3rd gen, but I have 5.29 and 33s on my '85 and I like it. The 22RE didn't mind the RPM and the extra grunt on the hills is nice. If the 3RZ going in doesn't feel as smooth at 3200ish RPM I'll trade up to 35s or down to 4.88s, but if the motor doesn't mind then I'll keep it right where it's at.
