Anyone else with HIDs ALWAYS getting flashed?!

Cheese and Rice, I often get flashed by other people on the freeway after having installed the Extreme HID kit.

Anyone else experience this phenomenon? Are they not only brighter but aimed higher? Now what?

This time of year my to and from commute is in the dark so I'm likely pissing a lot of folks off. The output is rather a miracle but at what expense?

I've had mine for...probably a year now. I aim my driver side lower than the passenger, and I've done the squirrel finder mod on that one. Its not perfect, but its better. I actually think I'm going to aim mine a little higher, but, I'm paranoid about blinding other people. Needless to say, I've never been flashed. And I drive a lot on small 2 lane roads.

Have you adjusted your lights and eliminated the squirrel finder?

i remember when i installed mine i had to lower it a bit (rule of thumb - the cutoff should be below the side mirrors on a sedan within a reasonable driving distance). Plus the higher you go (installing lifts), you have to adjust them down even more.

The squirrel finder allows light to shine above the cutoff that might be blinding to oncoming traffic. it comes in handy when you had the stock bulbs, not so much when you have HIDs. Just bend the shroud inside the projector 30degrees to create a cleaner cutoff line.

you're not going to eliminate the flashes entirely since when you go over a hill you're going to blind people whoever they are.

Here and there, mostly from SUVs and trucks rather than cars. Usually it's on divided highways and not in city or narrow roadways. Probably only a total of 5-10 times since having HIDs for the last three years. Who knows, maybe the other drivers are trying to say "hi" instead.

I didn't re-aim or do the squirrel finder mod either.

I never get flashed in a year of using HID retro, not even once. And Im running 55 watt ballast which is a lot brighter compare to 35 watt. I would check aiming. Rule of thumb - drop 2" for every 25 feet. Works for me :beer:

With your stating "always", it is very aparent you need to adjust your headlights to lower projector cut-off point. This is easy and should take you only 5 mins.

Aren't lamps supposed to have an antiglare coating if there isn't a glare guard in the headlamp assembly?

Thanks guys. I did do the squirrel finder bit but didn't aim down right off the bat.

Gave 'em a few turns down and we'll see if my fellow drivers approve!

I just replaced my halogen bulbs with HIRs, and adjusted using a wall, and I'm getting flashed. I've always used a blank wall to adjust headlights, covering one light at a time and adjusting. I start at almost level beam, then adjust down a little at a time until I'm not getting flashed. I guess the cutoff on these is a little vague, so people are getting too much light still, I'll have to adjust down some more. I make long highway runs at night in deer country, want the lows adjusted as high as I can get away with.

I was getting flashed all the time with mine. I JUST adjusted mine last night. I drive in the dark every morning, so I'll be checking to see how they were adjusted. They were VERY high before and I never touched them before. I'm sure it'll help all the oncoming people. I may have adjusted them too low, but I'll make some adjustments this week if need be.

And this squirrel mod??? Is it IN the housing? Never even heard of this before.

My concern is my driver side light doesn't shine as far left as my light does on the right. I'm guess it's so it doesn't glare in oncoming traffic and the right pics up the shoulder.
