Anyone good at identifying insects?

Saw this thing twitching on my driveway this morning. Have no idea what it is, I was thinking roach? But I've never seen any that slim. I'm inclined to think I should go sanitize my knife now.

Good god, I've lived here for more than 15 years and I've never seen any insects this massive.

I was feeling bored and wanted to take a picture of it to send to my friend, I presume she freaked out. The normal me would have stepped on it, ran it over, or maybe even
