Anyone have Shrockworks

So Santa is amazing. I got a Kenwood Stereo, a new antenna, and a Deckplate. So of course Christmas morning I was out side with an airbox and a dremel :thumb3:

I have loads of cash now and need a front bumper. So is install pretty simple? Can I do it with two guys in my garage or what? Instructions come with?

Just want to know what I'm getting myself into for $1,250 :guitar3:

More than likely you would be getting yourself into a long wait...

But yeah install is very strait forward and can be done with a guy or two in a garage with simple tools.
 
I say bah humbug to the downers who complain about lead time.

If it's the product you want and others don't float your boat as much then just wait and get it done right the first time.

Besides the hoops being a little close to the headlights (which I would have one custom if I were to do it twice) I love my Shrockworks products.

Had one on my '06 Tacoma and it took a thrashing - 80kmph into a rock wall tough! (and now living on a different Tacoma!)

EDIT - and ya, as long as you have reasonable wrenching skills it's pretty straight forward. I do believe a cut off wheel and grinder are necessary though. You have to square off the front frame ends. Grab some Rust Check paint too.
 
I put a Shrockworks on mine and agree with an earlier poster that the hoops sit to close to the headlights. I had my center hoop reversed so that they angle out and that seems to look and work a ton better. I love my bumper but hated the wait! To be quite honest if I was to do it again I would buy an ODL. The wait is significantly less time and the owner is very willing to work with you to meet customer needs. I found schrockworks friendly but tough to deal with for changes. Although to be fair they did make the changes I asked for. While not exactly the changes I was looking for they did attempt to make them.
 
So I called around today,
Shrockworks wait 3 months/ ODL wait None
Shrockworks $1250 to my door/ ODL $980 to my door because I can drive and pick it up.

Kind of Leaning towards ODL at this point

Yea, i dont blame you. The shock works looks cool and all but i HATE waiting for stuff. When i get the cash to buy mine ill go with the ARB or ODL. I believe toytec has the ARB for like 740ish. May be off a little tho. One good thing is you save money.....for other mods!
 
I bought the ARB a couple of weeks ago from 4wheelparts.com (I know people hate them) for $800 to my door in 2 days. I'm real impatient! (For the other $450 you can buy a Warn M8000 winch, well $490 shipped from Amazon.)

Yeah, your 4runner will be looking so sexy you'll never want to drive it because you'll want to stare at it all the time.

The plate vs. tube thing really comes down to preferences. Tube has better approach angles, typically cheaper and lighter.

I like the cheap part, and the wait.

I guess I'll have to sleep on it.
 
I LOVE my shrockworks. If I had to complain about something, as mentioned above, it would be the hoops being so close. I waited just about 3 months for mine but patience is a virtue and boy did it pay off. I had IPOR do the install because at the time, I lacked the manpower and the tools to do it myself, but they let me help and it was very straight forward. Instructions did not come with but we were able to get them in about 20 minutes with a quick phone call to shrockworks.

Well I finally decided. Drum Roll Please...

Savage Offroad for the Win. The only tube bumper that looks complete, plus it's cheap, and they had all the options I wanted!

I am in no means ready to buy a front bumper but I have been looking at theirs for quite sometime, kind of the best of both worlds.....would love to see the install process and build up pics! :hungry:
 
You should look up Dirt King Fabrication in San Diego. They will custom fab a bumper to your exact specs. I'm having them do some extra fab work on my plate bumper. My bumper was custom made by a friend of a friend. There are a few things that I want fixed. Dirt King Fab do custom work for $45 hr. Best rate in town
