Anyone here drive 'Top of the World' in Moab?

Hi,

I'm heading out to Moab at the end of this week. The main purpose of the trip is to get some mountain biking in. There is a trail called Top of the World in Moab that leads to 'Killer Viewpoint' that we would like to see. It is an out and back trail. I am driving out there in my 99 4runner 4wd and was planning on taking it off-road on Top of the World. We're hoping to be able to make it all the way to Killer Viewpoint, but if the road got to difficult we would just park and take the bikes the rest of the way.

'Top of the World' is rated a '3' in difficulty. I don't have much off-road experience in that part of the country so I was wondering how difficult a '3' is. I've seen 4's and 4+ and know that I couldnt make those. I'm also confident that it can do 2's. I'm guessing it could do a 3, but since we will only be travelling in one vehicle I don't want to take the chance that we get stranded on the trail.

Has anyone on this board driven this trail?

To answer my own post...

Well, just got back. My 4runner did not make it through the whole trail. Not due to mechanicals or ability. Mostly it was because I was afraid of trying a new trail without another backup SUV around. We went in about 1 mile and when we got to a questionable part, I parked it and continued on the trail with our bikes. I did see a older stock Jeep Cherokee come down it and a few lifted Wranglers go up it while we were on our bikes. I think the 4runner can do it and I'll definitely try it next year.

Sorry Thai, I don't have any pictures of the 4runner on the trails. I have some video though. As this was a mountain biking trip I have a bunch of those pics. Digging through my pictures I came up with these of the 4runner.

Sorry for the really late reply, but I just found this forum.

As you already indicated, your stock 4runner should have no trouble with the Top of World trail. I did that trail last year, and it was my first "real" 4x4 outing.

I did however, go along with an experienced 4x4 driver, who has a heavily modified jeep Wrangler, who was very helpful in spotting on the tough parts.

Very nice trail, and awsome views at the top.

This year we went back, and I did Fins & things, near Slick Rock. Also a great Trail, rated a 3 to 4. There was only one obstical that I had to go around, and it took the heavily modified Jeep 3 or 4 tries to make it. I probably could have done it if I had lockers, since clearance wasn't an issue.
