Anyone install a replacement Body Control Module?

my search for a brake light/dash light malfunction has led my to this part: Body Control Module P/N 89293-35013. Seems to aid in the function of power accessories and lights. Very expensive new. Not sure about used. Don't really know anything about it yet, like its exact location, whether I can replace it myself, etc. Wondering if anyone has dealt with this part.

I have a 2007 v6 4wd sr5.

Doubt thats what you problem is...the brakes on, right?

my independent shop mentioned it might be malfunctioning. you mentioned the tundra, but all vehicles have it, i believe. it can be involved in the electrics of many accessories (door locks, a/c, dash lights, etc). he asked if i had gotten water in the car. i think i'm going to have to bite the bullet and bring it in to toyota for at least an diagnosis. was hoping someone here had dealt with this part and the symptoms i have.

no CEL showing, so places like auto zone would not be a reading option.

that link was the first thing that poped up on search...just happened to be a tundra.

...and i have been wrong more than once before, just thought i would ask about the codes, wasnt sure i had seen any mention in your quest.

Looking at the book you need an intelligent tester to get the codes.

no codes yet. that would be through toyota. if you popped over to my other thread, you could see my efforts so far. that chart is helpful; it does mention stop lights, plus skid ecu (vsc/trac lights also on).
 
I did a BCM on a friends 2006 Kia sedan. Super easy, no need for programming. Not sure how a Toyota would be.

It’s probably under the dash by your knees. She also had brake light, turn signal, and power window issues. It fixed them all.

i think it is wall mounted behind the fuse location. haven't been able to get in there yet (winter here still). need to track down the exact part number, then start looking used. i believe they retail for $900 (discounted to around $550-600)
 
crawled into the footwell. a gray box is mounted on the backside of the fuse box. it seems to receive one of harnesses from the fuse box. is this the body control module? looks like i have to remove the lower dash, unbolt the fuse box, then access the gray box.

after nearly $300 in diagnostic cost at toyota, the winner is the ABS CONTROL MODULE! now i need to figure out the part and replacement procedure. hopefully, i can grab a good used part and do it myself.

no, is this any different than going to the dealer parts page and searching? i'm going to call into parts tomorrow and get the PN (closed by the time i checked out).

at 111k miles, the brake booster failed(another part of that abs/master cylinder ensemble). back then told it was highly unusual for it to fail at that stage. wrote toyota for assistance, got nothing. picked up a used total ensemble which included the booster for a fraction of new. independent installed. everything fine for 100k. now it seems another piece of that group, the control module, has failed. service said they may see one a year do that. strange that i've experienced two rare failures in the same location.

looked into the vehicle historical maintenance records (and my memory). brake booster replaced in 2013 w/111k miles. booster was used, paid about $150. local shop installed for about $300. booster unit, if i remember correctly, had everything on it (module, brake cylinder, fluid container, etc). when i look up new part, it says that it is included with the master cylinder. so, i might have to buy another used complete unit, instead of a separate module.

dealer price is $2300 part/labor.
