Anyone installed the 5th gen mirror covers with the blinker and puddle lights?

Ordering tomorrow, I'm waiting for my check to get deposited. I was walking to lunch today and there was a 5th gen parked on the street in front of Macy's, so I walked up and inspected the mirrors a bit in person. It's gonna be close, I'm not sure if they'll fit since the bases are a lot thinner for the 5th gens, ours are pretty bulky, but the only thin I can do is try.

Yea, that's going to be the issue. Even if the mounting surface lines up, the arms may not exactly match. I'm now half hoping that they don't match so I won't feel the need to spend money on them. Hah.

and since I've wanted to get my mirrors painted to mach anyways.. this would be two birds with one stone. does the 1A Auto part come painted or would I have to buy a rattle can?

Judging from the pictures over on TW, the covers appear to be a gloss black finish while the rest is plain matte black plastic.

I'm guessing the lack of feedback means these either didn't work or nobody has tried.

Never seen those before. Since it says cover, in guessing you would just pop them onto the factory mirror frame somehow? They look like they're shaped a little differently too but it's hard to tell in that picture.

EDIT: After looking at THESE pictures, it looks like I was wrong and that they would just bolt up to our factory mounts. The only thing would be swapping out the glass, painting and wiring up the lights.

It looks like the same ones HERE for only $126.

Not too bad... I installed a set of Muth Signal mirrors on my 05 Tundra. It is as hard as routing wiring through the door and tapping a lead in the drivers kick panel.

I'm guessing you're referring to the Hilux covers and not the 5th gens? All the websites I can find for the Hilux covers seem super skectchy and not really worth the risk, IMO.

Plus, I think the different, lower-profile, styling of the 5th gen mirrors would look pretty good on our trucks too. Oh well, still waiting for someone other than me to take the plunge...

Yes, I'm referring to the HiLux covers. At least they are supposed to bolt on. Wiring, well, so what, that is somewhat easy. The 5th gen mirrors, well, the jury is still out on whether they will bolt on. The HiLux covers are $169 for both (someone found them cheaper), the OEM mirrors will be alot more expensive ($240 each). The X factor here is if the OEM mirror fit/bolt up. My point is that its "cheap enough" to try (................ sounds like a plan to me, )
