Anyone Interested In My Manual '01?

I think we've had a long tenure of tolerating "should I sell threads" in the third gen section and this thread should be treated no different.

Edit: Apparently it is an ad. LoL.

I was responding to a comment someone else made earlier. and I'm referring to the very common comment, here and elsewhere when people are looking to buy, that 200k or 250k isn't something to worry about when buying a 4runner. I understand what you are saying but if you buy a $4k rig off of CL most likely you will be replacing a lot of parts on a 20yo truck.

The only reason I bought my 2nd T4R was because it was a one owner dealer serviced it's whole life. It had 217K on it & I wasn't worried about it at all because it had 6 pages of Toyota service records on the car fax. I didn't want something to wrench on. I drove it everyday for 3 months to get a feel for her & the only problem I had was a spark plug issue. Pretty dame nice! My 3RZ is for wrenching. And by the time I'm done with her everything will be changed down to the smallest bushings & I would sell it for a very high premium because no cheap parts were used.

If you bought the above rig you wouldn't have to do a thing to it but you will have to pay a premium. Well build 3rd gens on this forum go anywhere from 8k to 17k but you know they are done right & they are turn key. (depending on the member)

This isn't a "how much is my 3rd gen worth" or "should I sell my 3rd gen" thread.
I know what it's worth, and I also know I want to sell it; I didn't post it to get anyone's opinion.
I posted here because there may be a member interested that isn't browsing the classifieds, 'cause they aren't actively looking for a new rig.

Thanks bro. I love it too! Definitely a color I always lusted after.
It's a mall crawler man. I'll go play in the snow, but I'm not taking it "wheeling" without armor and a tub job!
Someone said these aren't great daily drivers, and I couldn't agree less. I absolutely love driving mine daily.
Been driving a 3rd gen daily for 4 years now, and not once have I not loved walking out to it before/after work!

I got my little 98' 4banger with 140k, open diff 4wd manual, with clean carfax and 1 owner with diddly for records for about half what you're asking, bone stock and requiring some immediate attention to t-case and shifter seals, shocks etc. I also tested the compression and have a weak cyl 1, so will have to do a valve job in a bit of time. Miles ain't no guarantee;)
All that to say I'll be at 10k easily before she's really built, and she ain't near as purty or attended to as yours. If I knew then what I know now, I'd jump on something like that. So I'd say you'll get your 10 and it'll be worth it to an informed buyer. Colorado or Arizona'd be a good market for that one, more money than in here in New Mex.
That said, there was one beautiful build on Co CL with low miles, around 130k, that dropped from 13k to 10.5 and either didn't sell or took an awful long time. Didn't have your girl's looks, but very nice mods.

Some people don't understand- or care, maybe?- the value of good care and maintenance. Don't get me wrong, my 4Runner is definitely not flawless! It's got some paint chips, a search or two, and a few little door dings. Find a 20yr old rig that doesn't though [emoji847]

I'm in construction; I'm a commercial electrician. I wake up at 4am, and start at 6. I'm not driving to work when the suit-and-ties are.
I am on a 15 story OHSU hospital building on the south waterfront- downtown Portland- right now, but I really don't have to deal with any traffic.
I do, however live outta town quite a ways, and smash the twisties on my way home everyday. For that, the manual is DEFINITELY much more fun.
So yeah, even with the manual in Portland stop n go traffic [emoji1598]
There are pro's and con's to both, but I much prefer manuals in most cases. I've swapped two 4Runners I've owned, and one Jetta. Out of all the rigs we've had, only 4 have been autos. Three got swapped, and the other one- '08 IS250- we hated because it was so damn boring and mushy to drive!
 
I just came in to say that there are some really poor examples of 4Runners that have sold on Bring a Trailer for above 10K recently.

I don't think there is any reason why your rust-free 4Runner that has a tasteful build, will not sell for at least 12K.
