Anyone know what this plug in the glovebox is???

Just bought a pristine 1 owner 2017 SR5, and looked in the glovebox and saw this plug. Haven't had a chance to really investigate it yet, but does anyone know what the hell it is or goes to? Thanks!

for a trailer brake controller. you can connect it to the plug under the driver's dash tucked away near the firewall grommet and then wire to your brake controller.

some brake controllers now have their own plug and play harness so you actually don't need that

Hmm, interesting. I wonder why it is routed through the glovebox if its supposed to be under the driver's side?

yes take into the dealer to have it fixed.

There's one in my 2004 T4R. It's a jumper harness to use in case the connector on your brake controller harness doesn't fit the one in the driver's kick panel. You plug this into that harness and then connect the wires to the harness on your brake controller. My controller (Tekonsha Prodigy P2) was plug 'n play, so this just stays in the glove box.

Are you sure it's connected to something behind the glove box?

yeah mine is lose, looks the same. In glove box. Dealer was like dont lose it..it aint cheap!!

i bet yours is lose and just pinched in between glove box and dash.

I think the only thing more expensive than car repair parts is medical equipment.

If I lost mine and my brake controller didn't fit the OEM jack, I would cut off both plugs and just hard wire them. There's a disconnect on the controller. You can also just buy aftermarket plugs if you really want that second disconnect.

My ‘18’s wire came in a bag inside the glove box. Trailer brake controller wire. My utility trailer is an old U-Haul open box trailer with no brakes, so I get by without brakes. So I’ve not felt the need to get a controller to wire up.

Yep, that's what it was. I just pulled it out to store with the rest of the stuff I'm not gonna use for this thing.
