They were around loooong before the "popular pop rock" song float on came out. That song doesn't define their sound or style honestly, thank God. I've always liked their lyrics though, Ocean Breathes Salty is one of many favorites by them.

I'd say it was before 2005. Around 2000 it was played quite a lot in the ski shop I worked in. I've listened to it again recently and decided I didn't have good taste in music back then.

Yeah I like their old stuff too, lonesome crowded west had some good tunes.

I wish I could have gone to their concert they had earlier this year but I was on deployment. One of their lyrics from "The View" is really on spot. "If life's not beautiful without the pain well I'd rather never ever see beauty again."

"Float On" was a good song, it just was really upbeat. I like how "Night on the Sun" sounds in their Everywhere in His Nasty Parlor Tricks album sounds.

I've always respected their stuff but never really got into it. Another band from their era, Cake, on the other hand... love them.

Cake and Oleander are local bands for me so I saw a lot of them. I had friends that were in bands as well which was cool because I saw a lot of free shows and got to meet some cool people.
