Anyone need sliders?

I am not affiliated with these guys, just thought I would pass along a good deal, hope I am not violating any rules...If anyone is thinking of ordering some trail-gear sliders, now is the time to do it! I just ordered a set of the 67" sliders (perfect size for the 3rd gen) with gussets shipped to me for $182. After 10% off too until January 1st.

This is my second set...I had the same ones on my previous 4runner. I am not a hardcore offroader so i never tested them smashing rocks, but I really liked them and felt they were very good quality. I would imagine they are of good quality since they now come made with DOM tubing...
 
For the slight difference in dough using the current Wabfab discount you could get the same thing from someone you know....just do it before he holes up for the holidays.

I must not be smart enough to find the deal you're mentioning. Can you elaborate?

On the WabFab site I see info for the body lift, brakes, clutch kits, end links, shocks, suspension, wheel spacers...etc for 3rd gens but nothing about sliders.

I run the All-Pro ones with kick outs and really like them, but along with some of the pros comes some cons. That being said I am going to be changing to some straight sliders without a kick out.

Pros:
Stick a little further out easier to step on and keeps rocks further away. As you slide off the rock it kicks or pushes the back end over a little to help avoid rear quarter panel damage.

Cons:
Sticks out a little further. Can grab or catch on the rock causing it to pivot the truck and can take you off your line before it slides off. Some people have even said it has caught enough to stop them, I have never had this problem.

lets say your slider is the only thing between your panels and a rock..ur sliders are taking all the weight and ur sliding along. the rock gets to the kickout..and will push your panels/rig away from the rocks right before the tire smashes into it. this gives your tires a headstart to grab the rock rather than letting your rims take place of the slider.

i would think the kickout is best used when ur sliding along at an angle into the rock.
 
do you think its useful enough to rule out a set of sliders i'm interested in just because it doesn't have a kickout? i would love the extra protection.
 
well I would say no it is not enough to rule out a set of sliders without a kick out. If you look at 80-90% of the sliders on the market they don't have kick outs. Also as I mentioned I am replacing mine soon with some that do not have a kick out.

I did. I had the TG sliders, but sold them because I could use the cash and I wasn't into the look. I just rationed that once they are on they are staying. It would take a good amount of work and $ to change them if you ever wanted kick outs. In the end it wasn't worth the $80 I was going to save by keeping the ones I had.

another con(and ive seen this happen) is when you get to that kick out, it does just what its intended to do, but your watching that side and not the other side of your rig. then the other side gets pushed into a tree(or rock) and wrinkles up your opposite side quarter panel... -that one bites... and that is the no.1 reason i did not go with kick outs for my sliders

58" way too short for 3rd gen 4Runner.
67" is too long IMO (notice it doesn't show 4Runner in drop down)

Interesting. Seems the 3rd gen sliders I've been looking into are between 66 and 68". After measuring the truck that seems reasonable to me but when it comes to bashing in the sills I'm still (and hope to remain!) a total newb. If you've got the time feel free to school me, you've got a heck of a lot of experience and I'd appreciate it.

That's what I was figuring on :D and what you're saying makes complete sense. My 96 has the skinny chrome flares. I'm personally heavily leaning towards the 4xInnovations DOM at this point but my wallet says I've got lots of time to figure it out. I'm hoping you'll still carry those when I'm ready 'cause I like dealing with you.

I saw the thread, knew you carried the same thing at near the same price and thought going to you made more sense.
