Anyone put a '98 radio bezel in a 2000?

After watching ePay for months for a 2000 wood radio bezel, I am giving up. There is a tantalizing supply of '98 and older bezels available, so the question is: Can we adapt those over? I wonder if it's as simple as switching out the ductwork behind or would there be a big dash removal custom duct work fitting in my future?

At some point they went to a darker shade for the wood grain, it was either in 99 or 01, so better double check because it's noticeably different

aside from replacing the center air duct, you need to relocate and rewire the ECT, rear window defogger, and rear window open/close switches.

It can be done but it's a bit tricky because of the circuitry that is inherent in the 1999-2002 center panel switch assembly. have you checked with Classifieds section? Perhaps [MENTION=78895]DeathCougar[/MENTION] can help you out

You could do it, in principle, by following this guide in reverse - How-to: Wiring a '99+ Bezel Into a '97 - A Comprehensive Tutorial - Toyota 4Runner Forum - Largest 4Runner Forum

One BIG problem you're going to have is that the '99+ trucks defrost circuit is controlled by the ECU, whereas the '96-98 are controlled by the circuit board that's integral to the switch. My tutorial above shows you how to solder wires to make the '99+ bezel work in a '97, but it's going to be more tricky doing it in reverse.
