Anyone running 255/80/17 Tires Pizza Cutters

Looking at 255/80/17- SR5 wheels, no spacers, Dobinson's 2/1.5 lift. Just read the whole thread and seems like most people are having minor rubbing at most-- fender liner mod, mudflap trimming or removal.

Can you guys that run this size confirm that? Anybody need a BMC? Just not ready for a permanent cut like that on my new truck so the major appeal to the 255s is being able to avoid that.

Also, while I'm posting-- I'm really struggling justifying going from a 255/75 C load (e.g. KO2 w/ 32.1" reported diameter, 45 lbs) up to 255/80 -- is the 0.6-0.8" of diameter worth the ~7+ lbs of weight per corner and a stiffer ride with E rated. I've yet to see a C rated 255/80

I'm running 255/80r17 Falken Wildpeaks. Bilstein 1.75" front, 1.25" rear with dobinsins 599. Stock wheels.

I only rub slightly on the front fender liner in full lock reverse with one front tire. Hasn't bothered me too much to do the fender liner mod yet.

I would not run an "E" rated tire unless you are carrying A LOT of weight and truly need the extra sidewall protection. In my experience, even in a heavy LC, the E's will ride considerably harsher and weigh quite a bit more.

with 255's they only make E load tires, and with the increased sidewall I think it helps make up for the E load rating.

Personally I noticed no significant change going from OEM tires on my lift to 255/80R17 E load Falken Wildpeaks on my truck with lift. I do run them at 40 PSI and seems to be close to the sweet spot.

There are good options, that are not load rated "E", in the 255/75 size, which is one of the main reasons I went with those.

The alternative to an E rated 255/80 is the C rated 34x10.5x17 BFG AT. The BFG 34 runs really small. So it's probably very close if not identical in size to a 255/80.

The other option if you want something tall and skinny and taller than a 33" tire is to jump up in wheel size to 18 or 20" wheels. There are a variety of tire options in those sizes that are taller and skinny.

Kenda makes a 35x10.5x17 now in a load range D. Not a lot different, but it's taller and still pretty darn skinny. Probably my next tire if I end up keeping my 4Runner.
