Anyone running the new Bilstein 24-248730 / 24-249966 shocks? Opinions?

Comparing the front and rear Tundra shocks many people use
In comparison, it seems the Tundras are a little longer in collapsed and extended length. Also, the Tundras have 5 groove settings whereas the 24-248730 have 4. Couldn't tell whether the lower eyelet is the correct size on the rear shock. I assume they are which would be nice so you don't have to change the bushings like you have to on the Tundras. This was one of the things I liked on the 4th gen shocks but they were just too long for my 3" lift so I had to send them back.
Someone else commented on these shocks and said they were more appropriately valved for our trucks but I can't comment on that but it stands to reason. I never understood why there wasn't a 5100 shock for the 4Runner only the Tacoma. I'm thinking these would be a good choice for someone who has a mild lift maybe up to 3"

This is a joke. If you wheel. I wheel all day on my ome/lc setup with better road manners. Ntm my lift cost was way under half your overpriced icon lift.
I am fairly certain the bushings do not have to be changed on these new ones.
Price.! I agree sir. The price is very expensive. They do have cheaper options. Your lift isn't rebuildable, it doesn't have remote resi, it's not extended travel, and doesn't have dampening adjustment. And I doubt your ride is nice when going fast over bumps. So you get what you pay for. A lot of members have icon, fox , King.... Wouldn't really say it's overpriced lifts. Its lifts that cost more money.
I'm simply saying that I have bilstein all around. And I don't like the on road feel of it. It's to stiff for me.

So if the op wheels he needs all that? You said if you wheel you need coilovers.
Well my mistake and apology for that statement. Not that it's needed. It's a nicer set up. And you can go faster on Offroad. That's all. Heard from few members they regretted not buying coilovers from gecko. But there are cheaper and good coilovers on market. Again sorry for confusion.

Don't get me wrong. I recommended my brother his metaltech 4x4/icon lift and installed it. I love the kit. I should also say it's not overpriced but more expensive. It's worth every penny for what it does. But for a DD that wheels on the weekends some billies will perform great.

I have tundra bilstiens they work great for what I do, in AZ, there is a lot of roads to blast down, but I'm mostly on the slower roads and they perform great. The rear flexes crazy (906 rear springs)
The front is hindered from the sway bar.
On the comment on speeds, WHY? Why go fast on a road you don't have control on? Don't tell me the suspension gives control, loose dirt can't be controlled, no matter 2hat your setup has. My billies might not ride as nice, but they do a darn great job as is. Why risk your vehicle and others lives by going fast? If you want speed, I recommend a track, not the desert... /rant over... Sorry I was almost in a head on collision this weekend from an idiot barreling down the dirt road 4wheeling yesterday, no reason the go that fast on that dirt road.

I'm also interested to hear if anyone is running these. I was confused about all the information out there claiming 5100's are only available for Tacoma or Tundra so I called Bilstein about this last week. A very knowledgable rep informed me these 24-248730 fronts and 24-249966 rears are engineered specifically for our 3rd gen 4runners and are best used for 0-2.3" of lift. It's good to know, and I think we should spread the word that we no longer have to choose between tundra and Tacoma 5100 shocks for those of us with mild lifts. I'll be ordering these to go with my new OME 880/906 coils.

Bilstein just released the 6112 front coil-over kit for the 3rd gens. Not sure if they are available for purchase anywhere just yet but they are on the Bilstein website in their online catalog. I would say those are definitely worth waiting for especially since I hear the price is significantly lower than any other 2.5" on the market.
Rears you will have to run the 5100s if you want Bilsteins. I've been running them for a while now and I love them (front and rear but plan on upgrading to the 6112s once available).

Will I be able to use these shocks on that coil-over kit, or do they have to be purchased as a kit? I admit I don't know much about suspensions... I paid someone to install my last set of Billie's and OME coils, 7 years ago
