Anyone thought about a 05 Sequoia ECU swap?

considering that the T4R and the Seq. use the exact same engine except that ours is detuned 12hp...anyone looked into running the sequoia ECU instead of ours? I know that the Seq. requires premium gas but there has to be a difference between the two setups more than just running premium in ours to make up for it.

Would the cost be worth it? It's not a sports car and 12hp equates into maybe 8 HP reaching the ground and also figure the gas cost and I don't see how it really would be worth the extra coin. Isn't there an airbox mod on the 4th gens that can net similar HP gain for minimal $$$?

There might be a mod, but as someone that has done the cut and chop mods before and since there are no intakes right now for the 05 V8's thought it might work.

Changing the ECU doesn't guarantee you will pick-up any hp. There may be other differences. There was talk about intake or exhaust manifold differences. You may end up losing hp and it may not run right. What is the cost of the ECU? Also you would lose torque.

Not to mention that the 4runner is AWD, while the Sequoia is part time 4wd, the electronics would most likely not be compatible. Consider that 03 and 04 4runners do not even use the same ecu, and that should be enough reson to not try that mod. Talk about not being covered by a warranty.
