SLC Punk do you plan to order new UCAs or not?

I had that same question. I don't think you really need them but I think for my peace of mind I will purchase new UCA's.

One advantage I see with the kit right off the bat is it appears that the coilover shocks bodies are coated unlike the Bilsteins which rust and corrode in a matter of months depending on where you live.

TJM 2" kit details

I recently ordered the 2" TJM kit for my 2014 TE. It will be a bit before I get to the installation as I am busy with life and would like to get a few more miles out of the stock tires before upgrading. My plan is to keep the mods fairly mild as the vehicle serves as my DD.

I asked both TJM and Toytec for more info, here is additional info on the kit from TJM:

Our suspension is designed to work with your factory Upper control arm and KDSS system, as long as you are not modifying our kit to yield more than the recommended 2” if lift. If you push this up to the 3” level, you will run into issues with your factory Upper Control arm’s inability to provide proper alignment specs.

As far as the different spring part numbers, we offer a Standard duty (50KG increase in payload) and a heavy duty (150KG increase). If you are looking to weigh the vehicle down with aftermarket steel bumpers, tire carrier, extra gear for overland style excursions, I would recommend the Heavy Duty springs for your application. If the vehicle is intended to remain generally stock I would recommend the standard duty springs. both springs will yield the same amount of lift height, will retain their spring rate and ride quality for equal amounts of time, but choosing the wrong spring for your intended use may result in poor ride quality and premature failure of other suspension components.

Here is a little more info about the TJM XGS suspension line:

This kit features our TJM Cold wound coil springs are designed to be a strong replacement for your OEM coil, built to hold their height and strength for longer periods than our competition who uses a hot winding technique to build springs. TJM coils are also shot peeded, load tested and include a durable power coat finish.

The TJM Shocks and struts that you have requested are part of our Gold Edition line of shock absorbers, built with a tried and true twin tube design. Gold Edition shocks feature an 18mm shaft, large 36MM piston, German Teflon bushings/seals, and a high grade shock oil that is more temperature resistant than some of the other shocks on the market.

And here is the coil spring info from Toytec:

That kit uses the 770RR88I rear coils and 770FR88I front coils with the 659GE188L gold front shocks and the 650GE288L gold rear shocks.

These are the standard duty springs.

I wanted to keep the lift simple and mild without using spacers or adjustable shocks. The less components, the better. I am hoping to avoid UCAs as well. We will see.

I've been looking into this kit as well. A lot of the Aussies on PradoPoint run it and swear by TJM products. I found that forum when I was shopping GX460s.

ADV, did Toytec or TJM address the need for a spacer/trim packer for KDSS equipped 4runners? OME recommends one but TJM makes no mention of it. :shrug:

HAHA! Yeah, I considered some driveway time this weekend. Problem is I am all over the place with work and don't want any "surprises" out on the road. Put over a thousand miles on the 4runner just this week. It shouldn't be long until things settle down and I can post some pics. hwell:

That's a good question. I specifically asked about the KDSS to TJM and they didn't really address it specifically other than what was in the reply saying it would work. One thing to note is that one front shock/ coil is labeled "driver", while the other is labeled "passenger" (I ordered them assembled). This was done with a sharpie. Not sure if this is typical, but I think "left" and "right" would make more sense. Not sure about the whole RHD vs LHD scenario. No idea if this was a Toytec thing or a TJM thing. I will see what else I can dig up.

BUT, don't fret...he said the trim packer actually sits on top of the top plate. So, if you have your struts pre-assembled and you do need a trim packer, you'd leave your strut assembled and just place the packer on top then reinstall. Not like you have to pull it apart like you would if you were adding a true spacer.

I was very close to ordering this TJM kit yesterday but shipping was like $110 :rain:

I used a coupon code in the vendor section to help cushion the shipping charge a bit.

Took a look at the front units today. There is already a spacer installed on the one labeled "Driver". It looks to be about 10mm. This is not a top spacer.

Again, I am going with the assumption that "Driver" refers to left hand drive vehicles.

Ugh, thats not great news. :dizzy: Thanks for the heads up.

Now I feel like even more of a Guinea Pig. At least its not showing up on the the FJ portion of the site either-- it would be worse it if was taken down only for the 4runner.

That's really odd. Anyone talk to toytec yet? I pretty much had my heart set on trying this kit

Just called toytec and asked them why the tjm kit was no longer listed on their website. The employee told me it's because they have been trying to get it in stock but have been unable to.
