Anyone using an IFS locker?

I'll let you know soon. Right now I'm getting 4.88 with elocker in the rear and
an arb up front.

haddix, i think that's the complete opposite set up he's looking at,

he wants a mech locker in the front and already has an aussie mech locker in the rear, on manual hubs none the less, this is far and away from our 3rd gen as per norm set ups here.

I am planning on going Aussie locker myself since I can do that in my driveway in about 2 hours. I will eventually go ARB front and rear but not until I can afford to regear. That way I only pay labor once for pinion and gear set up. Since you have to replace the carrier when doing the ARB. This way I can be locked until next years tax return.

I have thought prior of doing the same thing but after talking to a few hard core guys around town they expressed the fact that ur cv's can't handle the stress when wheeling with a front locker they said unlike a solid axle u have more joints I.e. Weak points and when in a bind with one wheel up other down it will apply too much torque when the other comes down for contact and will snap the cv. Best thing if u wanna lock front go with SAS but if ur like me and money isn't growing on a tree stick with the stock front

Personally, I would only ever put a selectable locker in the front if the rig is your DD/weekend rig. Its its only off road then locker it up with whatever you desire.

I spoke with the engineer over at Aussielocker today and this is exactly what he recommended...IF...you do not have to drive on icy roads. If you do drive on the ice & snow, he recommended going with a locker in the rear then adding a front one later if you decided you needed one. Straight from the horses mouth.

This is not a DD, but I do drive it often 'cause it's fun :)

I have manual hubs, so driving on the street is no problem with a locked front end.

Oh lol. Well than spool that ish! Just don't ever drive on the road in 4x4 in unweatherable conditions lol. This makes me want to consider a lunch box on in the front. I'm on the fence because I eventually want to SAS, so I don't want to spend the money twice...

I would rather lunchbox it too, to be able to turn on the trail.
My hubs are unlocked 99 % of the time. Only locked when in 4wd on a trail.

I do have a spool'd front diff in the shed...don't remember the gear ratio...will have to ask the donor.
If it is still 4.10 ( doubt it ) I can experiment with it to see how much I break on the trail fully locked :)
