Anyone willing to give me their old top hats?

The nuts on my front suspension top hats (top mounting plate, has 3 studs) have rusted beyond removal, and I think I will need to cut them off the replace my suspension, so I will need new top hats.

Does anyone still have their crappy old stock strut assemblies? Anyone willing to remove the top hats and ship them to me (assuming you didn't use them on your lifted suspension)? I am hoping someone will have them with the intention of just throwing them away and can give them to me for just shipping as opposed to chucking them.

I have check salvage yards around me, but no one seems to have any 3rd gen 4runners...

I will have to double check, but I think I still have the ones from my '99. Of course the truck is originally from Boston, so there is some rust, but not like yours. I was able to get the top hat bolts off when I transferred the lift from the rolled '96.

If I have them, they'r yours.

Dug around today and couldn't find them. I know there here someplace. And will I need to compress the spring to get the tophats off? I would assume so.

Oh, yes!
You can "rent" a spring compresser tool at Autozone. Basicly, you put a deposit down on the tool and you get it all back when you bring the tool back.
There are several auto parts stores that do this besides Autozone.

I think wheelers off road sold just the studs that go in the top hats. You could try that route if you cant find some cheap top hats. I had to saw the back stud off both my old top hats on mine as well.

Thanks man. I'm still looking if anyone has any and I'm willing to pay as well. Hoping to get my lift on within then next 4 weeks and it would be a much easier swap with the struts already assembled. Time is of the essence with an 9 month old at home.
