Anyway to disable the seatbelt chime?

I made one snarky comment, I didn't come back and repeatedly trash the thread.

Yes it is I, the one and only... the once thread trasher because the benefit of what yee refers to is/was without merit or benefit to those who read it. And when the glaring comment of being siblings was made, it simply reinforced the lack of any real necessity for the thread.

I still don't see the advantage to driving off road with no seatbelt on. Maybe someone could explain the benefit?

I liken this to the ability to turn off the side airbags. IMO... 99% of the time... that the use of seat belts is simply pointless and annoying when off-roading.

Same here, which is why its so frustrating when you take it off - like we'll do when we start to pull into our driveway - or when we're on a trail... its very annoying.

It is that - I always used to pop it off when I started into my parking ramp, dunno why, I just did.

It will stop, after - oh maybe 30 seconds.

Mine actually picks back up after laying off for a bit. It cycles off and on repeatedly until you strap your boxes in.

Seat Belt Chime

This is just an update for those interested in this topic. I stopped at my dealer today in southern PA. Since my driveway is almost 1/4 mile long, it's really annoying to have to either listen to the chime or have to re-buckle up for that trip up to the house, so I asked them to disable it, along with a couple other minor changes from the customization list.

No problem, done in less than half an hour, and although they did charge me (I should have done it when I bought my 2010 SR5, but didn't realize I couldn't do it myself), it ended up only being $11.00. They did include a little statement on the receipt that I was aware of the potential liability.

Oh, and for those worried about everyone else's choices with seat belts, yes, I always use them and have ever since I started driving in the 60's. Somehow I managed to survive all those years without a chime going off to remind me how to drive responsibly and safely. Imagine that!

All my other vehicles have allowed me to turn them off myself, but at least it's DONE and I'm SO pleased.

My dealer refused to turn it off -- said it was a safety issue. This was not the regular chime, I just wanted them to turn off the obnoxious louder chime that comes on after a minute or so.

You can see if Toyota sells seat belt extensions. I have seen them for Ford Crown Vics works good. Just leave it snapped in all the time.

I simply told them I carry stuff on the seat and printed out a list of what mods i wanted them to make. The lights turn off faster, the chime is off and I am now happy.

You and others bring up legitimate reasons for not wanting the passenger side warning to go off. It never occurred to me because I always have someone riding shotgun when I go offroad, I'd never let a dog sit in the front seat, and I keep cargo in the cargo area, not the front seat.

I still don't see the advantage to driving off road with no seatbelt on. Maybe someone could explain the benefit?

I often "heater hunt" from my vehicle, when I spot game I don't want to have to **** around with a seatbelt or drive with an annoying chime on half the day, considering my average MPH is like 10.

Im very tempted to have this done, but am also hesitant as Ive got some friends that refuse to buckle up and having the chime go off when they are in the passenger seat might encourage them to do so

And I agree with the poster who said that we should weed out these idiots that need a chime to remind them to put their seat-belt on.

Dealer only can disable it. Mine did it or free.

I also took mine to the dealer and they did it for free. I haven't ran across any other method which actually disables it. Having said that, they do sell this "Chimex" key which is supposed to turn off the chime.

1) Disable seat belt chime
2) Remote roll down of windows
3) Changed the moon-roof to tilt by the remote

First make sure your gas cap is on tight, that might be the issue, or maybe your dealer just sucks...

Sorry to be so clueless, but can this be done with the standard key/remote...?

I have the list of changes and I saw these items, but the key/remote seems to have only the basic 3 buttons - Is it some kind of combo simultaneous hold-down or am I just out of luck without the upgraded remote system...?

It can be done with the standard remote. When they program this function, you just hold down the unlock button for 3 seconds on the standard remote and the windows begin to roll down.
