Anyway to disable the seatbelt chime?

Yep. Don't let them tell you it can't be done or it isn't legal. Mine tried to put me off by telling me it wasn't legal. When we took it in for first service, told them I didn't want it back without the chime disabled and I wasn't going to pay for it. Now, no more chime!
 
Took mine in yesterday for some mods, after a year of procrastination, and asked them about shutting off the seatbelt chime. They didnt give it a second thought. They did tell me however they could not change the delay on the rear wiper. No biggie, main concern was the seatbelt chime. Picked it up, and it was done. So nice not to hear that beep anymore. This was Magic Toyota in Edmonds, WA.
 
Dealers are- as a rule- Stupid.

Ducmonsta has the software at his shop and the tech changed my rear wiper delay. It took about 3 seconds. Go back there and tell them how stupid they are! :lmao:

I've gone 5+ miles without the belt and it has never come back on.

And I thought the reason most of us didn't want the chime on was for short trips. Personally, I don't care if you wear your belt or not. I'd rather enforce the helmet law accross the country. Actually, the full face helmet law. But that's another argument.
 
My dealership pulled a fast one on me.... After dropping my truck off for the 5k service I told them I wanted the seatbelt chime gone and the service writer said he would haveto get "approval" for this. When I picked up the truck he said it was approved and they removed the seatbelt chime, I believed them without thinking twice.

2 days later, I went to pull my truck out of its parking spot and pull it up into my shop (50 feet away) and didnt have my seatbelt on. The chime came on. At first I thought it was warning me that a door was open... nope, seatbelt chime. What the dealership did was simply disable the PASSENGER side chime.... not the driver's side chime. Sooooo I'm annoyed. If anyone knows of a dealership and / or service writer in San Diego who can help me out, please chime in.

I wonder how he disabled the passenger side. When I had mine done 2 days ago, the technician had a hand held device with all off these configurable options with either an on or off selection. I didn't think the choice was as granular as driver or passenger chime.

You can do either or.
 
Bump for old thread. Took my truck in this morning, and they want $68. to disable the chime. Did anybody else have a dealer try to charge for disabling?
So annoying!
 
Cheaper alternative that has worked for me. ebay

Get yourself an OBD-II to USB adaptor and a copy of Techstream software with the Toyota patch. You can change all of the customizable options yourself via your laptop. You can order it from China on eBay for cheap.
