Anza Borrego next week?

Just bought myself a new tent cant wait to use it. But with this little heat wave were having Im going to wait until it cools down a bit before heading out there. I can say Ill be headed up to the mountains though. Post up a trip report for us!

I'll be heading out there for an overnight camping trip sometime in the next few weeks.
I was there this weekend but no 4Runner. We drove around and looked at as many of the metal sculptures as we could find.

I never made it to Anza, went and surfed Oceanside this morning and on the way up decided to turn onto Ortega Highway. Did some wheeling on Main Divide Road, had a blast. Scared the girlfriend in one section my rear passenger tire wasn't touching dirt and we were teetering up and down haha. I'm still very interested in doing some kind of weekend camp wheeling trip if anyone wants to do anything let me know!

I've never been to Anza Borrego, Middle Divide road had some sections where it was pretty sketchy. I have a 3" lift and am on 32" tires and was able to do most of the trail with ease. There were a lot of sections I had to get out of my truck to scout and figure out the easiest rout for my rig though.

If you do not have running boards but are at least 4wd, everything in AnzaB can run bone stock.
At least in a 3rd gen. I don't have a fifth gen.
Some spots might be tight fit a fifth gen but you don't need to drive deep in every canyon. Just walk the last bit.
All the main trails are wide and easy.
Having real all terrain tires is a good idea but not a requirement.
I would go as far as to say 80%+ of the trails in AnzaB can be done with a suburu and some clearance.

I went to Anza Borrego two weekends ago and explored Coyote Canyon. Very scenic. There's a campsite back up in there that I'd LOVE to camp at for a night. Nothing major in terms of wheeling other than the picture below of this particular rocky section... kinda fun.
The scenery is spectacular. I cannot accurately describe just how quiet it is out there. You have to experience it in person.

So you did the rock garden section going up and down? Nice job. Did you have any issues. That section is pretty fun. How were the water crossing decent or just a trickle?

No issues with the rock garden. It was fun. My skid plate made contact a few times on the descent but that's what it's there for. Not much water in the water crossings other than the last one.

Tacoma World...sign up over there and join the group. Then just add your name to the list they have going on over there and you'll be more than welcome to join them.
A lot of us are signed up with that forum as well since 1. It's Toyota 2. A lot of Our suspension and there suspension are compatible 3. Mod ideas 4. Going on meet and greet runs together 5. 4Runner guys also own Tacomas 6. Again it's Toyota.
I was thinking about meeting them over there for a day to run around with them.

They're definitely more active with meets and off roading than our section over here is, which is why I started hanging out there more. Plus I also have a Tacoma, so that helps, even if I'm taking the 4runner to the meetups. I realize a lot of the 4runners have schooling and whatnot which makes meeting a little harder.
Lots of great guys and there is a 4runner section and a 4runner bs section although it's mostly 3rd genners in the bs thread.
