AOR front bumper questions

I'm selling my ARB to a friend locally and planning on purchasing an Addicted Offroad bumper to replace it.

I don't like the idea of strapping my old OE turn signals on the tubes for aesthetic reasons. AOR sells LED turn signals with their bumpers for 30 additional dollars but they look small. I have a few question marks as to which way to go here.

Also I'm going to paint everything behind the bumper but I'm not too sure I should paint the ac condenser. Any thoughts on this? I looked at a thread where it appeared Jon did on his install

I spray painted everything behind the bumper with satin black with no ill effects. Looks much better that way

The signals they sell are the Trail Gear ones, the brackets require welding. They are also LED so they will hyper flash without a relay change. They are a bit small, but they are bright..

Ok, so as of now I'm planning on getting the LED blinkers from Addicted Offroad and use them in conjunction with an incandescent orange blinker in the parking/marker light housing. I'll have 4 blinking lights in all (2 per side)

Since I'll be tapping into the factory wiring with the incandescent bulb to power the LED blinker is it necessary to get a different Flasher?

No, the main reason for the different relay is because the LEDs by themselves don't have enough amp draw. So, the relay thinks you have a blinker that is out. So, it defaults to the fast blinker. FWIW, the replacement relay is $12 at Autozone. Its an EP33 relay.

ok instead of starting another thread, I purchased a bumper from 4xI, their plate bumper, the blinkers they came with have caused a fast blinker in my truck too, the 4-way is still the "normal" pace but the blinkers have a "trotting" pace to them, is this from the same reason? I couldn't really tell if they were LED's or not.

Could be the problem but I don't know if they are LED's. Should be able to see a bulb behind the lens right?

I honestly don't know if they are or aren't. I'm guessing know, not sure if gauge of wire helps but it's 14 gauge coming out and into our 16 or 18 gauge factory system. The jump in wire gauge shouldn't matter since it's going small to big. But the way the lens is set up it's really hard to see the bulb, it's either a tiny regular bulb or a tiny LED bulb.

I gotcha, that thick of gauge wire leads me to believe its not LED especially for a turning signal.

my thoughts exactly. LED's, I assume, would need only a 16-20 gauge since they really don't draw much. So would switching to the other relay help my case still then? It's just a much smaller regular bulb.
 
Usually with the LED fast blinking, as you know it doesnt draw enough power, a load resistor is often enough to make it normal .. a bit cheaper than a relay.

Yo Scotty - I'm about to install my plate bumper.
I remember you told me you were out of stock of the clear blinker lenses... however I'm set on wanting them to match the rest of my front end.

Are they basic 2" round LED marker lights?

Will these fit? Amber 2" round 9 diode LED marker light w/reflector - CLEAR lens

Yes, those would work fine. They will work with our pigtails and grommets too. But, they don't sit as flush to the bumper as the new ones we have now.
 
I run an AOR Plate bumper without turn signals for the same aesthetic reasons. But FWIW the corner lights have the exact same wires as the turn signals (color/stripe) and can easily be cut and re-spliced to operate as the turn signals. Check the laws about what color they have to be, or play it safe and go with amber, I run a set of amber LED's from SuperBright and I can see the flash going in front of the car their so bright. I however did not replace my running lights with anything for now as I never run them without my headlights on and they will likely be run to some halos one day.
