You can meet everyone at the end of cleghorn off 138, and run pilot rock. We probably won't hit the trail until 9:30 and be done with cleghorn until 12:30-1:00. Most people will still have cell coverage on cleghorn, so you can check our status.

That frequency I listed isn't a ham frequency. It's just the frequency the 2 way radios use. List the ham frequency as just 146.460 simplex

I would guess that the embed code got lost in translation. I've had a few posts freak out and go blank, some lost only portions. I think it might have to do with certain types of code, IE copying Facebook information with hidden CSS.
We have outdated forum software and our update requests to admin most often go ignored/unreciprocated.

Yeah I've got both and they will both be on, Ham were usually on
147.420 -147.520. [MENTION=128841]Spenny[/MENTION] he's got Ham as well a really nice set up he can reach out and around that whole area no problem.
Have no problem using [MENTION=102715]CrazyNorwegian[/MENTION] channel.
By the way if ANYBODY needs a CB Radio I have practically a brand new Cobra if someone needs to use it of course would need to get it prior to hook it up or if someone wants to buy it. Either way I don't care. It has every feature

I don't have a cb and am not very knowledgeable in this area. Can a hand held "walkie talkie" type radio communicate with this group or is a cb mandatory for any communication? Thank you in advance

Handhelds are relatively cheap and can be paired with a mag mount antenna for better range. A good starting point. I grabbed a Baofang handheld Ham off amazon for my first group run and the thing is good enough. Promptly upgraded to a different radio but didn't "have" to (small pp syndrome and the need for more power).
The debate between ham and cb will rage forever, but Ham is better in every single way - but you "need" (wink) a license to broadcast.
I'm going to get a handheld CB for this run just so I can hear the shit talk and communicate there too.

Yeah I've been happier with the HAM over the CB, it's just cleaner and has a better range. While most of us don't have licenses, we also don't blow up the channel and being out in the middle of nowhere makes it pretty unlikely that you're going to get busted using it. I am studying for my test though because I want a mobile setup eventually and learn how to use repeaters and whatnot in case of emergencies.
Can you post a link to a decent handheld radio on amazon? I have no idea what to look for but def want to order something before this trip. Thanks!!!

Whats up Miah, I know ive seen your rig around the desert. I too am in PS and was looking out for a CB. Are you still in the desert or back in LB? Lemme know, id like to trial this if available. TIA!

unlike the Cobra mentioned above, this ones battery is rechargeable, battery will last all day on the trail.
