Came across this today, haven't seen anything about ARB Base Rack system.

Does anyone have experience with it?

ARB BASE RACK

ARB Vehicle Application Guide has a section at the end, showing Base Rack components:

It is so new they dont even have pricing on their website yet. I got the email about it a week ago and am interested because of how low it sits.

The dovetail concept is interesting but makes me think it requires me to buy all mounting accessories from ARB and i cannot do my own makeshift ones like most other modular racks.

It does seem like they're creating an eco system of ARB specific accessories which mount to the sides of the bars. I think one positive aspect is the top plane of the crossbars are solid/flat, so potentially less interference if you're sliding things over the bars.

I'm very curious to see how the Base Rack connects to the roof mount locations.

Mounting kits are available for fitment to the 80 Series, and 60 Series Land Cruisers as well as all gutter mount vehicles (Classic Range Rover, Jeep Cherokee XJ, etc.). Blade rail mounting systems are available for the Toyota Land Cruiser 200 series, 5th Generation Toyota 4Runner, and Jeep Wrangler JL.

Sounds like it’ll be the same mounting hardware as their other racks. No drill using factory locations.

Hate to bring a dead thread back to life but the ARB Base Rack is FINALLY starting to ship out in the states. I spoke with a rep from ARB USA yesterday and my rack will be shipped out on the 28th of April. I will be posting pics with it installed on the Toyota 4Runner Facebook page and can do so on here as well!

^ Good to hear!

So what length rack did you get? I read that they only recommend the 3/4 rack for the 4Runner and offer no front "mount / foot" so that one may use their full length rack on the 4Runner.

I went with the 61" x 51" which is the 3/4 length. The fit kit SKU is BASE231 which fits a 2010-2021. Hoping to have it installed by early May. I like that it is a welded 1 piece rack and not put together with a bunch of nuts and bolts. I currently have the Yakima LockNLoad and very much dislike it for that reason! Attached is a link for the rack. ARB BASE RACK SYSTEM FOR TOYOTA 4RUNNER 2010-ON — Mule Expedition Outfitters

This is the only ARB dealer that I found to start selling the rack in the US with the 4runner fit kit.

I've been searching for some time now on the ARB base rack. Would you be able to install the 72 inch by 51 base rack and still be good? The reason I asked this question is if you can get the alloy mesh in that size, are you able to for the 72 in? I had emailed ARB over 7 days ago without a response back on my question.

Good to finally see some pictures to show how it all works on the 4runner. Been fairly nonexistent which is unusual considering how popular the 4runner platform is for bolting on accessories to.

Totally agree. Seems like the pandemic threw a wrench into their marketing of the product... I know there was a bottleneck at the shipping docks off the west coast so that could be why they didn't push the product heavily in the states. It came out last July and as of the beginning of April ARB USA just received there first shipment of the racks. I am hoping products coming overseas will be easier to obtain this year in comparison to last... It has been a nightmare... I got a call from the freight carrier and it will be delivered today. I will be posting pics of the Base Rack on my 4Runner tomorrow. Hoping to have it mounted for a camping trip Friday before the fire ban starts in Arizona.

Any updates on the rack and install?

Let me just start off by saying this might be the best rack on the market right now.... I am EXTREMELY happy with it! The install was fairly easy. The initial m8 bolts were tough to put in where the side rails are mounted on the 4Runner but other than that the install was a breeze. From unboxing to install it probably took 2.5 hours. As mentioned, the rack is a sold 1 piece rack with welded cross members instead of the traditional nuts and bolts fasteners on other racks. I have zero complaints with the ARB Base Rack. I am attaching a few photos of it mounted to my wife's 4Runner.

Thanks for posting pics, I have been waiting to see this rack installed! Does the rack extend over the side of the 4runner or does it sit flush with the roof? Hard to tell from the pics but looks like it hangs over a bit.

midwestoffroad looks great!!! How does ARB seal the rack to the roof? Do they use a rubber pad/washer or do you use silicone?
