ARB bumper install: a/c line bend?

I just installed my bumper, but there is a pipe in the way. Looks like a/c pipe but could be an intercooler. It sits precariously between the bumper chassis mount and a flat edge of the sheet metal body. I'm afraid it will run a hole in the pipe over time.

Has anybody else bent this pipe out of the way, or something?

My Demello bumper provided a casing for it and told you that you did have to bend it a little bit so it is a common thing to do.
 
There was a bracket maybe 3" long that holds that tube to the front of the radiator. I removed the bracket and "carefully" bent the tube back against the radiator. Anywhere it was close to touching another piece of chassis it's wrapped in several layers of silicone tape, then zip-tied to the offending area. In theory it's more secure now than it was originally, just in a different spot.

The tubing is very soft but can kink easily. Take your time and bend it very gradually (large radius bend). Work it with both hands gently.

So far no problems but it's going to be a bear if this ever needs to be replaced. I'll have to yank the front bumper, winch, and winch plate. That's the price we pay for offroad mods.
 
Definitely be careful bending it and use some fuel line or something over it. I didn't move mine enough out of the way and it was rubbing on my demello bumper, when I had to move it more to put the winch it sprung a leak where it rubbed the bumper. Used some jb weld and recharged the system and it's been holding since though.

Alright, I'll bend it.

I had taken the SAS junk off of my motorcycle so I had some rubber house that was the perfect inside diameter but JB weld wouldn't bond.

Apparently everybody solved the impingement issue with bending and protection. So next question, how would you attach some rubber hose to that pipe? I know zip ties will break or slide. The rubber was used as a petroleum chamber breather hose so I guess it's contaminated and won't bond to the JB weld.

Can you cats confirm that it's the air conditioner and not the tranny cooler line?

I'm taking before and after clearance measurements, anybody have another request while I'm under it? I'll be swapping upper control arms with spc light racing, and I have new bushings for my lower control arms.

According to another post about transmission cooler lines, the clutch move in this situation is steel brake line bent to fit by your own damn self. (~ $200 savings plus it's done right)

It's definitely the A/C line, I sprayed freon all over the bumper for a couple hours while I was waiting for the line to finish clearing.
 
On another note, where did you wire the amber bumper lights too? I cannot find the correct wire loom for the life of me.

To be totally honest it's making me want to punch a baby. According to the literature my shit is wired right, but it doesn't work at the moment.

I depends on the year of the 4runner where you wire them to. I'll check my instructions for you today. Mine (2005) was splice both the power wires together in the supplied bumper light and then plug/splice into the signal/running light plug.

That's what I've done on the 03 as per instructions. At the moment I'm installing the lift kit and currently fighting with the large bushings in the lower control arms. I finally got a 20 ton bottle Jack and my map torch seized shut. Although with as long as I torched them under the factory bottle jack, they should be out anyway. I think I'll have the machine shop press them out and put them new ones in.

If you can figure the proper wire combo and maybe post a pic I'll be happy!! I just bought a pack of 12-14 gauge bullet connectors to make life easier. I splice my headlight halo's and LED's into my fog lights. Love the independent run mod.

Also, guys... I broke my spc upper ball joint, just one though. :( I know, you really have to try to break it, and I did. I tried really hard. I looked ridiculous and it should have been a red flag. But I did it, and God dammit it would have never moved an inch if I had somehow put it all back together. I have to wait for my speed bleeders anyway. [Expletive]

Hey, so I just spliced the turn signal into my old turn signal plug and it magically started working about an hour into the first drive.
