ARB fridge/freezer

One last question...... when you are not using the fridge in your vehicle, can you leave it plugged in at home or at work as a fridge/freezer?

Order placed. 50Qt for $700, can't beat that price; no point looking on ebay or for a floor model. I probably can sell it (if I don't like it) for about that price.

Currently, I am totally in the mode of what I *want*, rather than what I *need*. I was trying to get some *needs* out of this thing, but I guess.... I just have to *want* it.

Why do you need to do any wiring? Doesn't the ARB fridge connect to the 12V cigarette light plug/jack that is at our cargo area? And doesn't the ARB fridge only draws 0.87amp?

So, now, back to the wiring question.

Is the rear 12V always ON? Or if I make it always ON (assuming there is a way, I will look into the electrical wiring diagram now; there must be people who did that before, very obvious and useful mod), will there be any issue? Why need to run your own wire?

It is no doubt an extravagance, but you'll see when you get it how awesome it is. 50qt here too. Just got back from a three day trip to the desert by myself and it wasn't nearly full but works great for a two person week trip.

The inside temperature is stratified so put things you want especially cold on bottom and things less cold on top. I.e. beer, drinks, meat, cheese on bottom, salads, meltable snacks/cookies, cake etc on top.

I normally set mine to 34Deg. Haven't actually tried to keep ice cream in it yet

Have had my Engel 45qt. for about 8 years now. We have used it extensively and I can't imagine going back to a normal cooler for multiple day remote activities. I do have a Brute Box (Yeti quality) 75qt. as well that will hold ice for 5 days in Texas heat, but now only use it for holding deer and wild game when hunting. Its nice not having to worry about what's getting wet or soggy in the cooler. These coolers definitely aren't a necessity (more a luxury) but if you can afford to pick one up you'll end up loving it!

Drawer Part #'s

I have the 50 quart and have been running it for years. Unless you are frequently needing to support more than 4 ppl in the backcountry for multiple days at a time, it is all you'll ever need.

Love this setup! do you know the part numbers for the drawer system? I'm looking at this for my 5th gen.
