Are 305s too much for the V6?

Chopping my body mount next week.

This will give me larger tire options. I want to go 305s but I'm afraid it will be a dog in the V6.

Should I just do 295s and call it a day?

Any V6 owners with 295s or larger tires? Preferably 305s?

I am surprised by how "proper" this community is when it comes doing things, but people arent regearing when putting larger tires on.

Mine feels like a dog with 285's on the highway I think. Try the 305's and if you don't like it re gear! It'll look badass btw.

What aspect ratio? 305 only refers to the width of the tire. The aspect ratio determines the height which is what you would be concerned with when it comes to re-gearing.

What you want to hear is everyone say it will be fine. Do whatever you want but it will suck. It willl feel like someone added 1000 lbs to your 4runner. It just feels like you are always pulling a small trailer around unless you regear. Like I said it is your vehicle but I like to 4runner to run as well as it looks.

I'll add to this. I think it looks good and functional as it sits now. I'd leave it.

I'm going to keep my 285s but I think I'm still going to regear.

While its open I'm gonna throw in an LSD.

I'm running 305/70/16's although I'm not in the V6. The actual tire measures 32.5" x 11.75". I have no issues when driving, its not as peppy as it was when i had the 265/70/17s but im not necessarly trying to race off the start line anywhere either. I had to chop the body mount to allow for the travel aswell I' have about a 3/4" offset (center of tire is 3/4" offset out away from the hub face)

However.. My next plan right now is to re-gear to 4.56's and lock up the front an rear. I'm regearing to get the peppyness back as well as get back closer to factory RPM's
I'm in the V8 so its not quite as relevant to your setup but this is my experience with the size tire your looking at

If you guys had a choice to lock the front or rear what would you choose? I only have enough to do one axle. Each locker is about 900.

What's wrong with the LSD? Best of both worlds I think. Plus its 1/2 the price with no maintenance

Pretty sure a 305/70 is not a 32 inch tire. Sounds more along the lines of a 34. I have 285s and they measure 32.9

LSD is good for on pavement stuff, (ask me how I know;) ) A Locker is what you want for off road stuff. And I would do the rear, but thats personal preference for me. ARB has done a vid for comparisons.
