Are 3rd Gen Rear Window Switches Backlit?

I am wondering if the defroster and rear tailgate window switch (up and down switch) are supposed to be illuminated at night when the lights are on? If so, has anyone successfully changed the bulb in these and if so, how? Thanks for any input from this awesome forum!

Also interested in which years: I've owned my '99 since '03 and neither have ever been illuminated.... I figured they just weren't. If it is a simple bulb I'd feel a bit foolish.....

I don't recall the button on my 2000 Limited to be backlit either.

They should light up on all years I believe.

Yes they are. Mine burnt out a while back. Figured I'd replace it when I do the led conversion.

This is the part number for '99-'02s which have the switch incorporated into radio surround. Part number is 90010-01042

To conclude: if your switch isn't illuminated, your bulb is burnt out. Illuminated rear window switch wasn't some pricey option exclusive to the Limited.
