Are 4th Gen 4Runners as macho as GM trucks?

Seems like GM, Chrysler/Dodge, and Ford are trying to boost their sagging truck sales by portraying their trucks and suvs as more macho than 'furren' brands.
Howie Long would like you to believe that you are a dumb wimp for driving a Toyota. Dodge Rams love to drive through explosions.

How do you rate your 4th Gen 4Runner's testosterone level, compared to a Trailblazer, Explorer, Cherokee, etc.?

Should we smack Howie on his flattop head with our purses?

Screw Howie and what he says. For being so broke, I'm surprised that GM has so much marketing money at the moment to be dissing everyone else. Besides, how much of my fellow T4R guys are such pansies that you wouldn't like a heated steering wheel on those frigid days? I sure would, and you can call me a pansy a$$ any day for that. Our 'Runners are as much of trucks as any of them, and will last way longer, my quick 2 cents.

rented a GM trailblazer for a beach fishing trip to NC OBX. Needless to say, truck got stuck in the sand and had to get tow strapped out. Hosed down the undercarriage and engine area when we returned to the road. Then soon after, engine check lights came on and abs was toast.
Few years before when I was living in Upstate NY near the great lakes, My gf had a Jeep Laredo, it got stuck backing out the driveway in 2 feet of snow. My Tacoma plowed right through it.
Can't personally speak for the rest of the brands, but i'm sure there will always be something beefier and better.

gm sucks

my father has a 2003 trailblazer LT and the thing sucks. the interior is crappy. has no low end power what so ever and everything is coming apart. it burns through headlights and tail lights all the time and i feel the T4r is more macho than a trailblazer. I feel that the tundra and T4R are much better than their american counterparts and its a much better investment than GM. Howie Long can S*ck it.

I have always liked Howie Long. At least he tries to make a few points in his commercial. He talks about better gas mileage on the highway, comparing (Toyota's) V6 to his V8. Also, he has a commerical about the Honda Pilot having less room than the Chevy (what ever it is). Of course it doesn't talk about resale value, reliability or quality.

What to me is really bad, the dumb guys driving the Dodge trucks through the flames and screaming, can we do it again. It is so wierd, I don't see them making any head way with that kind of mentality. Of course if you look at it rationally, I don't see how they can be around much longer, maybe doing to dumb commercial is all they have left???

No their not as macho, but there not mean't to be either. If your going for just looks the Dodge trucks are pretty mean looking and they have the Hemi to back them up.

Hey here's a shocker... the Tundra is built here in the U.S. with AMERICAN workers putting them together with AMERICAN suppliers. Well built machine with great reliability. How come GM can't accomplish this?

Because they are so "American" that all there stuff is built in mexico and canada instead of in America.

Not just GM my friend, go look at a ChryCo product. Almost all the lineups that I can think of have for example all of their engines made in Mexico, and Tranny's made in Canada. Buy American, go figure. :bs:

What a joke, my roomate has a Cherokee and on the way up to Wisconsin it broke down in middle-of-nowhere-ville Ohio. The "quadra trac" bs 4wd system sucks. It runs like crap all the time, and sometimes wont even start, or stay running! Yea Id say that is really macho, but I guess if youre in bed with the parts companies too then it makes sense.

First, I'm sure you realize that the Dodge ads are filmed under very carefully staged conditions, and the explosions may in fact be special effects. It's a frakkin' commercial!

Second, I don't need to have my car advertise how macho I am. I would much rather have a well-built, reliable truck than one that purports to proclaim that I'm a real man. If you need your vehicle to proclaim that for you, you have bigger fish to fry anyway.

I don't know about Trailblazers or Jeeps or any of that crap, but I had a 2500HD GMC and I loved that truck. Incredibly comfortable, loved having a diesel, great highway long distance cruising truck. But of course I sold it for a Toyota because the Toyota is more practical. So to me, a GM truck is way more macho and inflates the ego a lot more, but as with all Toyota products, you don't buy them for the macho factor, you buy them because they are practical, well-rounded, no-nonsense vehicles.
