The 4th gen truck is the same bodystyle as the 1st gen 4runner. I think they were 84 to 88? I seem to remember the truck changed to the new body a year before the 4runner, but don't quote me on that...

you are correct 84-88 trucks and runners are interchangeable on almost everything.
