Are all 5th gen roofrack crossbars the same?

They still work fine, the aftermarket are better. My 4Runner came with the OEM bars (I didn't "order it" with them so didn't pay) and I ended up selling them. I would try them out, see if they work for you as they are nice and low profile. If they don't then sell them here or on Craigslist. I had lots of offers for mine, but you'll likely get between $75 and $100 for them based of EBay prices.

So I spent some bank this weekend. I picked up a 16 Pro from local accessories dealer then read up and went to REI for the Yakima Timberline's and Crossbars. Got the bars installed and the un packaged the Skybox.....They sent the wrong keys for the locks. Keys go in both sides but won't budge right or left.....Of course this could only happen to me! Now I have to repackage and haul back then do it all over again next weekend.

Yes, it will work, but aftermarket is way better for all of the reasons [MENTION=91899]Jhalko[/MENTION] just gave you! Here is my setup, I personally liked the 53" Thule Aeroblades but the Yakima ones will work as well. Virtually no mpg difference and/or wind noise. Just take the OEM ones off as with both sets on it does create drag.
I personally like buying my stuff at REI for free returns and thier member coupons, but etrailer sells them too and will show the crossbars mounted to the 5th gen 4Runner.

Cymon, how did you figure the spacing for the rear and front bars? I rough fit the rear to clear the spoiler, but not certain if 30" c to c is good? Yours looks farther.

Also, I just spoke to Yakima and they are shipping me a correct key and adding key cylinders for each of the 4 towers! Great CS!

Honestly it was just a bunch of trial and error. Once I found the spacing it now takes 2 minutes to put the box on, but the first time I was probably playing around for about an hour. I did keep the back hatch open throughout the process because I knew I wanted it to fully open with the box on and it was the best way to get a visual.

As a side I have found it best to have the bars as far apart as you can, it helps reduce any vibration when the cargo box is loaded.
