Are ECUs interchangable btw. '90-'95?

Hello, I have a 1990 T4R with auto, v6, 4x4. I recently had to replace the ECU. I found one at a salvage yard in a 1992 or 1993 with the same options as my truck. I put it in my truck and it seems to run fine but when I turn the ignition on I notice the check engine light flashes rapidly (turns off when truck is running). So the question is: is it okay for me to run a different year ECU (same generation, with same options) in my truck? Are there any drawbacks or faults? Should I try to find a 1990 ECU? Thanks

It certainly wouldn't hurt to have the exact ECM, but it sounds like the one you have is doing the job (other than the iniyial blinking). Have you checked to see if any error codes are being generated?
