Are these tires a good choice?

I am looking at getting the Goodyear Duratrac LT285/75R16E1 126P B. This is the only load rating I can find available in this size right now. I am wondering if it is too much. Any ideas?

E-rating is the load rating on this particular tire. That is a 10 ply. Not sure if I need something that solid and if it would be good offroad.

They will be heavy and stiff. But they would hold up well off road. I think they make them in a D. I recently ordered my tires and made sure i ordered a D to try and avoid the complaints I hear of people running Load Range E.

Do a forum search for "285 load range e" and you will find some others asking the same question and a few reviews from people running them.

I agree with what everyone is saying about them being stiff and all. Certainly stiffer than a D rated will be. But these things aren't Cadillac DeVille's either. They're lifted, body on frame trucks. If you're going to wheel it a lot, go for the E rated tires. I think everyone gets a little too caught up in all that IMO
