Are WeatherTechs really the best?

I just got a 2006 SR5 4runner that will be doing a lot of tahoe, fishing, hunting, camping trips and definitely needs some strong, rubber mats. I keep seeing weathertech pop up and just wanted to know if they are the best or if there is another brand that is better for durability, function and fit?

Yes, I wore through 2 sets of OEM rubber mats before purchasing my WT floor liners. I've had them in 2 different 4th gen 4Runners and they don't have a single hole or scratch on them. I've heard others say that the husky's don't line up right, or wrinkle, or wear easily. You can't go wrong with the WT's. I've had mine for years!

I swear by them. I will have them in every vehicle I own. They are pricey but they will be the last set of floor mats you buy for that vehicle.

I destroyed a set of the oem ones in about 6 months. My Weathertechs have been going strong ever since, well over a year with zero wear. I surf a lot and drag sand into the truck with me. That stuff is abrasive af but has not worn the WT's at all.

FWIW, i bought a whole set (fronts, back, cargo liner) of rubber floor mats off ebay for maybe 50 bucks or less and they're holding up just fine. they are trimmable to get the fit down right, and have deep "trays" to hold in water or whatever else. i just think WT's are too pricey.

I love mine. I don't do a ton of outdoor activities but when I do, I have no worries about getting my interior dirty. I LOVE them for the winter months. With all the snow and slush and salt, they're great. I have the fronts, rears and the cargo mat. Well worth the money in my opinion

my biggest problem with the Huskey is that they are plastic and slippery if you have any moisture on your boots. makes it hard to keep your feet where they belong...

The front and rear seats are amazing. Worth the money.

Cargo is 50/50. Kinda flimsy, looking back I would not buy the cargo again.

I have the husky's and they are alright but edges don't lay as flat as I'd like, they are kinda flimsy, and as mentioned they are plastic-y not as rubbery as WT. The reason I got husky's is that I read they had little pockets for the driver mat attachment clips where the WT just have holes/clips through the main water collection area leaving an obvious leak path. Maybe they changed that? If I were to buy again I'd get weather techs like some buddies have in other vehicles.

It's a matter of preference really.

I had Husky X-act Contour front floor mats and rear weathertechs in a previous truck (Ford). I preferred these to the weathertech. But Husky does not make the X-act contour mats for any gen of the 4runner.

If they made it, I would buy it over the Weathertechs.

The weathertech cargo mat is OK. it has a flimsy lip around the edge that gets in the way IMO. I ordered a Husky to replace mine.

The same, just different....

I've had them both in Tacomas, and there is nothing wrong with either brand.
They both might require a heat gun (very lightly) along the door bottoms, but that's about it.
Husky might save you $30 bucks or so on Amazon, but somebody's got to pay for those extravagant Weathertech ads.

Had them in my 3rd gen and just picked up a set for my 4th gen
After having a fully built 3rd gen, I always say the weathertechs were my favorite add on. Can't go wrong with them at all

I agree with another comment about the WeatherTech cargo liner not being ideal. I switched it out for an OEM Toyota Extreme, which is a slight improvement. The lip/edging on them, which I guess is to contain some kind of leak or spill, makes the fit lousy. Also, I'm not sure either will actually lay flat.

Wondering if there is any version that fits decent and looks good.

I'll second this - front and rear are perfect. Cargo is kinda meh....still probably the best cargo option, but I don't love it.
