Are you Happy with your 4runner LE?

So I currenty have a '13 4runner trail with KDSS. After having a GX460 for almost a week as a loaner I want to make the switch to the LE. I know it won't be the same as the GX but I really like the Comfort and Luxury features. I should have gotten the LE the first time around. Bought my Trail Edition New so hopefully I won't take too big of a hit financially after the trade. Are there any differences between the '14 and '15 LE? What do you like and don't like about your LE?

I went from a '11 LE to a '15 Trail Premium and I honestly haven't missed my LE a bit. Did it have a few more trinkets, yeah sure. Did I like my LE, you bet and I liked it a ton! But I've never regretted letting it go after bring my TP home. I don't remember one time driving my LE thinking wow this is so plush. Opinions will vary but I actually like the way my TP non-KDSS rides and I even like the softex seats (gasp! ha). I say if you want (and can afford) a Lexus then buy a Lexus... if you don't need the off road capability so much, then buy a Highlander and save several thousand... they're surprisingly plush in the latest gen (if you really want those creature comforts). We have one and Toyota did a fantastic job with the redesign. It reminds me of an RX we used to have.

Of course keep in mind that the newer 5th gen LE's have a little plusher leather and nicer interior than the LE I had. The LE's are VERY nice... just not near a Lexus IMO. Best wishes!!

While I can't compare to other 4R models as this is my first, I really am loving it. The two things I would change, if I could...get rid of all the gaudy chrome (I mean really, this much chrome on a vehicle went out in the 70's) and the 3rd row seats would go, mainly because I don't need them and they don't lay flat. True story...first trip to grocery store got home and pulled into inclined driveway. Opened hatch and proceeded to bring in groceries from driveway and street, where lots of things rolled to after they almost all rolled out of the back of the 4R. Not sure what designers were thinking there...

If I decide to get another 4R after this one and the next LE has all this chrome, I will buy a lesser equipped model so I can get paint matched bumpers, door handles, etc.

Big plus for me...15 speaker, kind of, JBL system. Sounds awesome! Not $15k custom system awesome, but for factory install...absolutely awesome!

Can't you buy the Limited without the third row?

Well I owe about $29k and have 21k miles. It might take me longer to sell privately than to trade it in. Will dealership go by NADA or KBB value? My local Lexus dealership have two vehicle that I want to take a look at. A '14 4runner LE with 18k miles for $39998 the other vehicle is a Fully loaded '13 GX460 Premium with Accessory F sport wheels and Front grille. The GX460 is priced at $47000 but its has 63k miles.

Those are horrible prices!

When I bought my 2015 4runner limited (with 3rd row seat), with the blizzard pearl paint price adder, no auto running boards. I paid $42,300 brand new. It came with 100 miles because the dealer had to do a long distance trade and ended up driving the vehicle. Whatever I didn't care. I also didn't haggle for the couple of hundred bucks. What I needed was the 4runner on my driveway ASAP as my new born son was less than 4 weeks away, and my Honda s2000 wasn't going to cut it anymore.

At the same time, I was also shopping for a 2014 GX460 (base trim level), starfire pearl, nav package, and tow hitch receiver. I offered a local lexus dealer $46,500 the car wasn't in their possession (at another dealership), the sales guy said no and I thanked him for his time and walked. 2 weeks later he called me back and said ok, $46,500 but I already already driving my 4runner limited for a week long at that time.

These are Northern California prices (does not include, tax, title, license).

You need to find some better deals.

I just got a Limited.

My previous 4Runner was a 3rd gen Limited...leather, sunroof, automatic climate control, and push button all-wheel drive. It could be driven on dry pavement while in 4 wheel drive. As it lasted 16 years, i had to consider my next one to have features that I will still value or need after 15 years. I was seriously considering the TRD Pro based on capabilities but it did not have any of the above which pretty much differentiates the Limited from the other trims. No sunroof, no leather, no all-wheel drive, no Smart Key system. I enjoy the vented seats, 3rd row, and automatic retracting running boards. If you're gonna go off-road and off the trail, I'd suggest lifting it a little bit but you'll have to throw away the X-REAS suspension system which makes the 4Runner a nice urban driver vehicle.
The Lexus GX, you'll usually find it above $61K. It also has a high resale value, so to find it in the range of new 4Runner it will have to have a lot of miles. It will be a 5 year old car at least.

Will be 6 months with my LE this week.

It's been a great family truckster so far this summer on cottage and camping trips. I miss the smooth cruising comfort of our old LR3. The 4R is a much bumpier ride. Mind you, nothing rattles or squeaks in the 4Runner, whereas the LR3 was creaking from day one.

I bought my limited because I do not want a 4runner without auto temp, memory seats, auto headlights etc. I never eally considered the others. I do wish the limited did not have the lower plastics hanging down so low though. I really like the chrome on my limited but I am old school. The limited rides pretty rough with the xreas suspension but handles great on mountain roads and has no nose dive. . The Lexus will ride much smoother.

This pretty much sums it up for me too... I really was not interested in the other models as I wanted the full-time 4wd, auto climate control, etc. 23k miles, and not so much as a hiccup so far. Love it.

Agree. The sound is great for a stock system.

Well, I just traded my '11 LE for a 2015 GX and there is quite a bit of difference in ride and handling between them. I really liked my LEs (actually had 2 back to back), and I really like the GX, except for the stupid barn door, but I had a GX before so I knew what I was getting into.

Drive them back to back and you'll feel the difference.
