Sarki, did you do anything with the power motor as it is? Mine still works, you can hear it trying to go up and down.

Original power antenna was disconnected while antenna was in the raised position so no issue with motor running in an effort to raise/lower antenna.

Oh ok, my mast was already snapped off. I wonder if I unplugged it from the back of the after market head unit it would no longer try to raise/lower itself?

Wish I new about this when I ripped out the mast, disconnected the power clip and zip-tied that motor-bag inside the fender somewhere. I kinda miss having some range on the radio.

Love my power antenna. It says down 90 percent of the time. But when I pull up to a meet, you better believe I wait to put it up until there are people looking at my car...

I got a mini--antenna cable adapter, and a 'Y' junction, and hooked the rear window antenna up to my aftermarket headunit. Previously, that was disconnected and only the normal sized fender power antenna was hooked up. And then installed a switch to turn 'off' the front power antenna. And what I've found is that the rear window antenna works so well, that by the time I start losing reception on a station, flipping the switch and raising the power antenna barely makes any improvement. I don't think I've bothered raising it for a couple of years now.

I purchased the Y adapter for the 2013 Corolla NAV radio I put in my 97. The newer OEM radios don’t use dual antennas.

Its a great mod but am I the only one that likes the stock antenna. I am on my 3rd antenna and second motor but still like the stock operation.

Nope, still on my OG motor and antenna. I have an aftermarket stereo and it goes up and down when I turn the power on and off. Those stubbys are cool but can get ripped off at the car wash.

I'm on the opposite end of the spectrum from you lol I plan on removing the entire antenna assembly completely even though mine is still in great condition and operational. I never listen to the radio.

I never use mine either in fact it pisses me off when I accidentally select it, the antenna motor pisses me off too because it activates when I get a phonecall on bluetooth and resets the connection when I turn engine off and just seems like over-engineering for soccer mom proofing car washes. But probably good to keep an antenna just in case for severe weather, tornado warnings, emergency info. Unless you keep other radios in the vehicle.
