"Armored Pig" Build Thread 2002 Sport

Well can't decide if its worth the upgrade to the twin ARB
but everything was marked just incase of a future switch.
The stainless braided air lines don't flex much

I was going to ask how the high output compressor was working for you, but this appears to be the base compact ARB compressor. Since you were interested in the twin, why not the high output single?

The high output compressor is the one I have been eyeing for my upcoming ARBs due to its ability to fill tires and still fit in the engine bay.

saw the art twin in action so it was that much faster and more robust.
i just went with the standard because at the time i was planing a different on board air system. but seems like the arb twin will suite the needs better now.

Bud Built aluminum plates, the pig is heavy and since its not a rock crawler a little trade off for protection vs weight was a compromise.

Primed and ready for Rattle can

Can't say enough about the extensions and the Bud Builts. the Piece of mind was awesome and handled just fine on the long highway stretches between parks.

I really dig that rear with the spare mount at an angle. Time to start saving $$ I guess!

probably one of the last whitson metal works full roof racks with sun roof cut out.
Whitson fitted it for a rigid E2 30' in front and a 20" SR for the rear.

now the debate is on.. keep the E2 or upgrade to the new amber/white Dual function.

Also Led bulbs in a JDM altimeter washed out the OEM look. probably going back to regular bulbs soon.

All Parts were installed by myself, once in a while with a friend or relative lent a hand for some of the lifting.
Its advised to use more than 1 set of hands for the bumpers.....ask me how i know. Floor jacks, 2X4 and webbing straps were a pain, doesn't matter if its front or rear, extra hands are good and the beers afterwards don't hurt either.

Any ways..... Next up

Sonoran Steel 1.2 was great and put many miles on them, But it was freshen up time.

Felt like a waste just to do Fronts... So all Four corners were ordered.
Custom - Remote Resi with adjusters and 700lb coils.

5100 Vs King 2.5" -- Look at the barrel size...and thats before the extra fluid in the remote resi

Measured just for reference...all guys do it.

Nice way to hold up the armor, keep it riding like a Caddy and Let it flex off road. Found a stocky to park next too

Those Kings are sweet. I am curious to know your opinion of the ride compared to the bilstiens

Also Led bulbs in a JDM altimeter waste out the OEM look. probably going back to regular bulbs soon.

I put white LEDs in mine, I would try that before going back to stock bulbs.

Kings mounted in with SPC/Light racing Control arms.
Helps get everything back to factory specs

not problems with clearance issue with the top mount

Well how to describe it. The kings are night and day. After the upgrade there was a significance difference between the belstein and the kings.
Mostly attributed to the 2.5 barrel of the shock, 700lb progressive springs and the remote resi. Most bump don't jar the truck at speed as hard as the did before.
Hate to compare it but it almost feels like a commuter car or as most commonly call it a cadillac feel.

Once you go Kings or Fox shocks its going to be super hard to buy anything lessor in the future suspension wise.

Ok that being said. Update time.

So Big 3 wiring and alternator up grade. Purchased from MarionBumper2Bumper aka bamatoy1997 on tacomaworld.
Group buy was held last year oct 2015......Delivery date was a little delayed due to being #89, one of the last on list and ordering a 250 amp alternator, but items were delivered and he did try to make things rite.

anyways heres its all in

Alternator was nice using the factory Toyota harness with upgraded thicker gauge wires. Pretty much plug and play with the Kit.

Ok only down side was some of the wires were a heavier gauge than needed and a little long. Now the Best Solution.... Dual battery try Kit from Columbia overland, fits 2 Odyssey PC1400. (by the way the Diehard was a rebranded Odyssey before they discounted the line)

Ramonortiz55 is doing damage to peoples wallets with his group buys, but hard to Pass up the IBS system since the Big 3 wiring upgrade, 250 amp alternator, and dual battery tray were ordered.

So the pig got some electrical love

Bussman relay box with custom bracket measured and place close to where the dual batteries are. It tight but there is enough clearances so nothing had to be moved. Used OEM mounting spots and drilled out bracket

39543628551_07b284067c_m.jpg

Good time to run in the IBS dual battery wiring and an extra set of wiring harness for future needs.

Pulled the panels and measured the wiring needed.
