Anyone has an update or review after install ???

I'm looking for a reviews/opinions after having the supercharger on for at least 15k miles ...

More like drivability, maintenance, mpg, how she handles loaded down thru steep inclines, etc etc ...

I'm interested in getting the blower for my 4runner ... Because of my big loop trip last summer. With the my 4runner loaded down with gear and lugage up top and 6 passengers. There were a couple of time the 4runner was alittle sluggish even with 4.88 gears on 35's ...

I hope someone chimes in, I thought I’d be ok with 4.56 gears and a pedal commander. My concern is reliability, I wouldn’t want to be left stranded out in the middle of nowhere because something leaked or came apart.

From what I've seen, 35s with a light vehicle would be fine with 4.88s but any sort of bumpers or skids then go 5.29s.

I hope someone chimes in, I thought I’d be ok with 4.56 gears and a pedal commander. My concern is reliability, I wouldn’t want to be left stranded out in the middle of nowhere because something leaked or came apart.

I also have the pedal commander.

I only have a steel front bumper, skids, rock sliders, and a 3rd row. Around town I'm good with the 4.88 on 35's

But when I'm carrying full load of people ( My Family of 6 ) including our luggages ( 3 pelican 1650's, 1 extra large suit case, and a ice chest ) the 4runner is kinda sluggish around the hills...

Just ordered mine, should be here in a couple of weeks. I got tired of how slow she was when merging or passing on the freeway.

I just installed mine a month ago. So far it has been great. I tow an adventure trailer but haven't been able to do so yet with the super. I'm on 33s with a steel rear bumper, sliders, skids, hybrid steel front bumper, dual battery and a winch. My feeling has been that this is the power the 4runner should have. It is not crazy but it is noticeable. It makes it feel like there is a v8 under the hood.. The weak link now has been my transmission Temps. I noticed I no longer hunt for gears which means it sits in overdrive more and am seeing Temps stay around 200+. I installed an aux cooler with fan this morning so we will see if that helps.

I am fairly confident in the install, I did it myself so I know everything was done as it should have been. I had to change a lot of hoses and make my own mount for the reservoir as well due to the dual battery tray. I replaced the worm gear hose clamps in the kit with legit clamps off of other peoples suggestions and so far not a single leak.

Can you post the brand and part numbers for the clamps you used?? I’m not a fan of worm gear clamps. They aren’t constantly tightening like spring clamps.

The supercharger adds additional load to an engine that wasn't designed for it. Perhaps Toyota overbuilt the engine, but I think in the long run it will wear out the engine sooner.

The 4Runner is obviously different than a Taco since the Taco has 6 gears, but this is video at least has some principals of re-gearing that may be of some use for 4Runners.

What cooler did you pick? I’m looking at either the Derale 13504 or the Hayden 679. Not sure about adding a fan, though.

I don’t think so, anything that moves with boost or without will definitely fail if abused and not maintained. There’s was someone out in Oregon that know of that blew the engine up because he was trying to push a ton of boost. He was selling the supercharger soon there after. I’ll do a leak-down and compression test before and after a couple thousand miles to see what kind toll it’s taken on the engine.

I got the 12731. When I get some time ill take pictures because I mounted it to the top of a skid plate. I'm not sure with the intercooler for the supercharger that you can fit another cooler on the grill.

I agree with the above comment about boost potentially causing issues if abused. I think people misunderstand and misuse it. WOT is something reserved for... well I'm not quite sure because it certainly isn't a drag vehicle. I have yet to do a WOT pull. I feel power through all rpm ranges which is what I needed for towing and cruising up any grade on the freeway. In my case I am not driving any different than I did before and it just feels like it has pep now and isn't searching for gears anymore which I like.

I have a friend who runs the service mechanics for a large Chevy dealership here in Phoenix, he is an awesome mechanic himself. I have know him since he first met my younger son on their first day of kindergarten at the bus stop. He said Magnuson makes a great supercharger, loads of power, but he said 60k +- and you can expect a rebuild cost. He talked me out of a supercharger because I want reliability over performance. That and I am an old man who drives like an old man and therefore I thought I really do not need one. My 2cents for what it is worth.

Everything you said is exactly why I made the decision to install one. Definitely won’t have my foot to the floor after every red light.

60k is usually what I drive every five years, so a rebuild at that mileage doesn’t seem bad. Good thing is Magnuson is 15 minutes away from my home, with luck the turnaround time should be a day or two.

Guys watch out for all the extra load the supercharger makes on the engine. So much load. I’ve been told about at least 2 4Runner explodering after going WOT too much so heads up. Don’t do it. Anyone who tells you anything else doesn’t know nothin about cars.

I’m getting a pedal general and coil packs instead. My mechanic (I’ve never turned a wrench) swears by them.
